About Ships: Worksheet

Anchor

We use special words to talk about ships. We call boss of a ship the captain. The other people working on a ship are the crew. The captain and crew sail the ship. They also look after the passengers. On ships there are many levels or decks. The captain has a special place called the bridge. The bridge is where the captain controls the ship. You can also see a red funnel. This is where smoke comes out. And there is an anchor on the side of the ship. The crew drop the anchor into the sea. The anchor stops the ship from moving In the picture you can see little windows on the side of the ship. These are called portholes. The bedrooms are called cabins Ships are usually very safe. But since the Titanic disaster all ships carry enough lifeboats for all passengers and crew. Understanding 1. What do we call people who work on a ship? 2.
