Construction is in full-swing at the new Orillia Recreation Centre. Work continues on external elements, such as window installation and brick work, while the inside of the building is bustling with a wide variety of tradespeople working together to construct this one-of-a-kind facility.
WINTER 2019
One-of-a-Kind Workout The fitness centre will include unique features that allow for more individualized workouts such as BioStairs for cardio training, three-step stairs for stretching or box jumping, and the Woodway treadmill, a completely self-propelled treadmill that requires zero electricity. These unique treadmills were purchased through a provincial sport and recreation grant and are currently available for use as part of the Parks, Recreation and Culture Department’s Fundamental Fitness Program. For more information on the program, visit orillia.ca/programs.
Workers install windows for the Orillia Recreation Centre at 255 West St. S. These windows will provide excellent light into the pool area and throughout the entire facility. The large windows along the upper-floor walking track will provide great views of downtown Orillia and Lake Couchiching.
