The children enjoy their time outdoors so much that they don’t want to go home! We don’t know how we ever managed without it!

Enhancing Creativity and Communication with Weaving Posts
Arnold School Kindergarten Arnold School Kindergarten approached us with a problem. They had a huge outdoor space but they could not use it. The area was predominantly grass, which would get water logged, and old wetpour tiles which were slippery and unsafe. After meeting with the staff we decided that a zoned space would suit the children’s needs best and it allowed us to hit all the Six Stages of Development too. We created a roadway that branched off into different spaces such as a sensory digging area, a creative den building zone, a storytelling corner and a low-level activity trail. The roadway guides the children around the space and ensures they experience a little bit of all the activities.

Outdoor play is a vital element of young children’s physical, Leadership Leadership Leadership social and emotional development and more importantly play is a young child’s key mechanism for learning. The outdoors provides freedom to explore different ways of feeling, behaving and interacting. Children feel free to learn in a way that comes naturally to them - through play. At ESP we understand this and as such we design all of our products and services to support the early years framework:

Design Your Own... At ESP we believe that every child deserves the right to access high quality outdoor learning on a daily basis. We use this ethos to influence all of our designs. The Six Stages of Development act as a backbone when we are designing and we try to encompass each one in every plan. As designers we get the satisfaction of making a difference to the way children learn every day and now we are giving you the chance to do the same by designing your own playground.
