From Concept to Completion

Start Planning your Playground with our Free Design Service

From your initial enquiry through to the delivery of your nationally accredited training award, ESP are with you every step of the way to manage your project with the highest quality customer service.

1. Enquiry

Right from your initial enquiry, ESP will assign your School your own Area Development Manager who will assess your requirements and guide you through the first steps to creating your new playground.

2. FREE Site Survey and Consultation

ESP offer a completely FREE, no obligation site survey and consultation to understand your requirements in detail. We actively work with Student Councils and other members of staff in order to understand the whole school brief.

3. Creating Your FREE Playground Design & Itemised Quotation

The real work begins following the site visit. One of our fully trained Graphic Designers will create a completely FREE, full colour scaled plan and itemised quotation which clearly illustrates and creates the vision of what your playground will look like working in partnership with ESP.

The Design Studio - Each plan is produced to scale by one of our fully qualified Graphic Designers.

Following your site survey and consultation, you will receive an A1 scaled plan of your playground with the proposed new design and itemised quotation, tailored to your School’s needs.

4. Funding Assessment & ESP Contribution

Over the past 12 months ESP have contributed over £500,000 of funding to Schools across the UK.

5. Placing Your Order

Once your design has been finalised and agreed, we will confirm your order and arrange a convenient date for your installation to take place.

6. Manufacture

On receipt of your order, the first step is the manufacturing process. Your order will be manufactured and quality assured before being despatched for your installation.

7. Installation

One of our fully trained, CRB vetted Installation Teams will arrive on an agreed date to install your brand new playground and outdoor learning environment. Before starting work a full risk assesment will be carried out along with your safeguarding procedures.

8. CPD Training Award

Following your installation, our CPD team will contact you to arrange for your first training day. One of our Specialist Trainers will arrive on an agreed time and date and up-skill your staff, parents and leaders on how to get the most out of your brand new learning environment.

Case Study

Rotherhithe EYFS Area Rotherhithe School first contacted ESP to discuss the potential renovation of their Early Years playground area which was old and deteriorating. Their playground did provide plenty of activity for the children but a fresh approach was required in order to meet all the requirements of the EYFS. Following a full consultation with one of our experts, the school decided that ESP was the right company to work in partnership with. It was agreed that the new design would integrate sensory experiences, creative areas, opportunities to discover and explore, nature and much more. The school was impressed with the wide range of products and services on offer, the design of the area, the quality of the products, the customer service and above all, the excellent value for money.

Case Study

Wibsey Primary School ESP met with Mr Cooper to discuss the schools requirements and any ideas the staff, children and parents had. The main objective of the school was to transform what was an old Zoneparc play area and add some dimension to the activities. The playground was uninspiring and the lack of playground equipment did not stimulate any physical activity or curriculum engagement.

Case Study

Rotherhithe Primary School After the successful development of the Early Years playground, the school decided to use ESP for a new development in their primary school playground. The brief focused very closely on looking to inspire an aged and dull area that stimulated more healthy physical activity for every child. The school had a keen interest in our outdoor curriculum concepts and teacher training programmes along with some of the more traditional playground equipment.

The playground was split into two areas. One area had an existing sports pitch and the other was a vast open space. Mr Cooper was very interested in our outdoor curriculum concepts and in particular the suite of CPD teacher training that supported the use of the playground equipment across the curriculum. The playground design therefore included our outdoor maths and science range along with our very successful multi-skills intervention.

Following a full site survey we produced some scaled designs in order to clearly illustrate what could be done with the space. We split the playground into zones, implementing different activities into each area. The outdoor learning area includes a science package, a maths package and an outdoor learning shelter. This extra large shelter was designed specifically to be used as an outdoor classroom and features plenty of seating to accommodate up to 30 children. The playground also features an “Enchanted Garden” containing some of our nature based playground equipment. This encourages a nurturing attitude amongst the children while allowing them to discover the world around them.

A brand new MUGA was placed within the main playground with sports mesh fencing enclosing an artificial sports pitch. This provided another location for structured sports to take place and left the remaining playground for the children to engage in other exciting activities amongst playground equipment such as Tangled, music, staging, traversing walls, seating areas and nature zones.

Other products include a bespoke play ship, a tennis court, a ball catcher and table tennis tables, seating, a story telling area and mushroom seats. The school agreed that we had provided them with a proposal that included the perfect combination of activities for all children.

Padiham St Leonard’s Primary School Mrs Bradley called ESP to discuss ideas for breathing new life into the playground of Padiham St Leonard’s. The playground was lacking any outdoor play equipment and the children had lost interest in the current playground markings. She felt that outdoor activity was an integral part of the school day and that the current facilities were not inspiring the children to participate in physical activity.

Case Study

The Orchards’ Federation of Schools The Orchards Federation contacted ESP to discuss the development of their school playgrounds. They were concerned that the children were not engaging in enough physical activity due to the lack of playground equipment and markings. The school were keen to implement outdoor curriculum concepts into their playgrounds and were particularly interested in our Multi-Skills Thermoplastic Markings and CPD training. Therefore our playground design included our Multi-Skills Famous 5 package into the plans.

Our Parkour product was of great interest to the school and they decided they would begin with the installation of our unique Free:D package with grass matting safety surface. Parkour encourages strength, traversing and coordination training while being an exciting and challenging sport. The school were delighted with the Free:D product and it wasn’t long before they were calling ESP back to discuss further development.

A Trim Trail was placed in the schools grass area, surrounded by a grass matting safety surface. This provided a variation of challenges for the children to participate in while the surrounding playground furniture and shelters introduced a social meeting aspect to the area. This left more space and budget for more exciting playground equipment including activity tables, a ball catcher and a traversing wall.

For the next phase, Mrs Bradley expressed interest in our range of Trim Trail equipment. We encouraged the idea and agreed that a trim trail would increase physical activity amongst the children. We designed and installed a trim trail and separate Team Adventure Zone, offering a variation of challenges for all age ranges. We returned again to add multi-skills, encouraging the development of fundamental movement skills across a wide range of sporting activities. Staff at the school received CPD training, helping them to encourage the children to use the markings to their full capabilities.

The school where very impressed with the final playground development and we were delighted to be called in for development of other Orchards’ sites. We continue to work with the federation, receiving a glowing response every time. The school have witnessed a huge increase in physical activity and the playground equipment has been a massive hit with the children.
