What is Leeds Rugby Foundation? •  •  •  •  •

Leeds Rugby’s award winning charity and the umbrella organisation for the Leeds Rhinos and Leeds Carnegie Community Programmes. The Foundation is by run independently to Leeds Rugby by a separate board of Trustees, chaired by former Chief Executive of the Rugby Football League David Oxley CBE. The Foundation is a provider of services to the community and works with approximately 50,000 children and young people annually. The Foundation has established links with over 300 schools and 100 rugby clubs throughout Leeds & Yorkshire. The Foundation employs 14 Fulltime Officers covering Leeds & Yorkshire and operates through 5 Pillars of Activity: The Foundation’s 5 Pillars of Activity

Catalyst Of Change The Leeds Rugby Foundation currently offers •  •  •  •

6 Week rugby coaching block and rugby festival at local amateur club. The wider agenda: Rugby is not statutory in the National curriculum. Strong assembley programme Limited impact and legacy: –

Impact – Not all children enjoy playing rugby, rugby specific caters for the minority. Therefore participation levels are not maxmised. Legacy – Limited resource available to aid continuity post programme.

6 Week multi skill programme including a multi skill festival run with SSP and Competition Managers. Concentrate on the fundamental movement skills. Programme Aims and Activity Description

Primary School

Aim: Delivery of a 6 week Multi Skill Programme and support schools and children with the delivery of high quality sports and physical education. Key Focuses of the Programme will include: Fundamental Movement Skill, Small Sided Games, Racquet Sport and Striking Games, Invasion Games culminating in a final event. The Primary School Programme will be linked with Community Sport.

Holiday Activity Programmes

Aim: Delivery of high quality specialist sports coaching support to schools. Support for schools participation in existing sports competitions. After schools coaching schemes. The Secondary School Programme will be linked with Community Sport.

Aim: Delivery of the school club link programme and support to continued development community sport. Raise the awareness of further opportunities to participate in sport and physical activity in a community setting. Delivery of the new Rugby Club School Link initiative. Delivery coach education opportunity for sport in general – 1 per month. Build links with various NGB’s to increase participation. Aim: To create high quality opportunities for the children and young people to participate in sport during school holiday periods.

Enhance the 5 hour offer. Help tackle obesity levels. Change for Life Campaign. Promote Healthy Lifestyles Anti Bullying Campaign. Promote community cohesion through School – Club link.
