NEW STORES @ SERPENTINE GREEN
Construction work’s underway on a £7 million extension to Serpentine Green shopping centre which will see new stores opening. Next is to move into a larger 10,000 sq ft store in one of the new units being created with M&S Simply Food moving into the space vacated by Next, and due to open in time for Christmas 2017. The works, including a further three stores to the front of the existing building, will add to their varied retail line-up. Additional work is being carried out to improve the public space directly in front of the centre, with a new pedestrian square including cycle parking linked to a cycle route through the car park. David Wait, centre manager for Serpentine Green, commented: “It’s important for us that Serpentine Green evolves in line with the needs of retailers and customers, creating the right space for people to shop, eat and drink as well as providing more choice.” Over the coming year, parts of the car park will be re-routed to allow the works to take place. Some adjustments to the car park layout will be made, but disruption should be kept to a minimum.

MINI HELPS KIDS GO TO THE CRESSET PANTO The Cresset Theatre has recently nominated the YMCA Cambridgeshire & Peterborough as its charity of the year. This Christmas a new initiative’s been launched where for just £60 you or your company can sponsor a family ticket to Peter Pan at The Cresset, allowing two children from deprived backgrounds, accompanied by their guardians to see the show, and even have an ice cream at the interval. Also included is a donation to YMCA Cambridgeshire & Peterborough’s homeless hostel. Chris Davis, Brand Manager at Sycamore MINI, who’ve already donated 100 tickets, said – “The team at Sycamore MINI have undertaken a challenge to see how much happiness a MINI can bring to those less fortunate. INDIA NIGHT FUNDRAISER HEAL supporters next India Night fundraiser is being held at The Cresset on November 12. The event, now in its 11th year, gives a chance for HEAL friends, donors and sponsors to enjoy a night of authentic Indian food, music and entertainment in aid of the charity. For the fourth year in a row, The Queensgate Gift Tree is back in partnership with local charity, Spurgeons, to make sure the children of Peterborough receive a gift this Christmas. It was a huge success last year with over 3,600 gifts donated which were then distributed via the Family Support Workers at Spurgeons and many other agencies who work to support families in need. All you have to do is collect a pre made tag outlining a child’s name, age and gender from the Customer Information desk (outside John Lewis) and donate an unwrapped present up until Wednesday December 21.
KATHARINE OF ARAGON FESTIVAL ON ITS WAY Plans are coming together nicely for next year’s annual Katharine of Aragon Festival at Peterborough Cathedral. Already in place is a lecture by TV historian and academic Dr Suzannah Lipscomb on Friday January 26. She’s an excellent speaker and will be re-evaluating Katharine of Aragon as a spirited woman of integrity and faith, debunking the simple stereotype of her as the Queen who failed to give Henry VIII a son. If you’d really like to get into the spirit of the occasion, they’re holding a Pottage and Ale Supper beforehand in the newly refurbished medieval Knights’ Chamber. The new Angel Christmas Fair, founded by Lady Victoria Leatham, will be held at Thorpe Hall Hospice on December 3 and 4 with more than 50 stalls. Large illuminated wicker angels, sponsored by local companies, will welcome guests to the grade I listed hall throughout the event which is raising funds for Sue Ryder. All traders will give 10 per cent of their profits to the fair and Lady Victoria said: “The money raised from the fair will go towards helping Sue Ryder to support families with terminal illnesses this Christmas.

FATHER CHRISTMAS NVR’S CHRISTMAS SHOPPING AT THE RETURNS TO STATION SACREWELL MILL Sacrewell’s hugely popular Father Christmas will be back at the Mill House this year. Santa moved to the old farmhouse for a couple of years while work was being done to the 18th century grade II* listed building, but he’ll be back in his regular spot from Saturday December 3, and this year the centre’s offering toddler experiences too. Tickets are available for December 3, 4, 10 and 11 then every day from December 17 until Christmas Eve and you’ll need to book. Entry includes a visit to Father Christmas and at weekends, his reindeer as well as admission to the visitor centre for the day and access to other Christmas activities taking place. The new Sacrewell Christmas Shop opens on Thursday November 3 after a £35K refurbishment. Throughout the day there’ll be taster events from suppliers and the shop will be showcasing new products. As Christmas gift fair season kicks in there’s one with a difference coming up at Nene Valley Railway. The NVR Christmas shopping event is on Thursday November 24 from 5pm until 9pm and might just have something for that hard to please person in your life. SPORTS LEGEND KRISS AKABUSI @ NSPCC DINNER Motivational speaker Kriss Akabusi MBE has been lined up as the special guest to celebrate two decades of local fundraising for the NSPCC at a charity dinner in the city. The Peterborough NSPCC Business Support Group notches up its 20th anniversary this year, and is marking the occasion with a gala dinner on Friday November 18. The glamorous black tie event at the Holiday Inn West will give guests the chance to enjoy a fourcourse dinner followed by a talk by the inspirational athlete and sports/TV personality Kriss Akabusi – founder and CEO of The Akabusi Charitable Trust (TACT).

or the first time this year both the city centre lights switch on and Queensgate shopping centre’s lights will all be turned on the same day officially getting Peterborough set for Christmas.
Santa’s elves will be giving out 3,000 special Rudolf-wristbands in Cathedral Square from 4pm and each has a magic number. Grab a wristband and after the light switch on, head to Queensgate’s North Square where there’ll be more entertainment and the chance to win one of dozens of amazing prizes large and small. Santa will pick out the magic numbers and if it matches yours, you’ve won!
It’s all happening on Saturday November 19 with music and entertainment throughout the afternoon on Cathedral Square and then the big switch on happening at 5pm. The fun will be hosted by Heart FM and once the plunger goes down and Peterborough lights up there’ll be a festive burst of fireworks. The celebrations will then continue inside Queensgate Shopping Centre when the centre's lights are switched on and will include prizes and giveaways and the opening of Santa's grotto. VIVA LA ROCK ANNIVERSARY GIG I needed a quote from a friend of mine who lives in San Francisco to help write what you're about to read. Sending an email is way too conventional, so I decided to fly over and ride to his house in Petaluma on a gorgeous Triumph Bonneville. I’ve written about Viva previously, when a few years ago Graham Fairbairn staged a reunion at The Brewery Tap to raise money for charity. And the good news is Graham’s doing it again, this time on Saturday November 26 where proceeds go to the British Heart Foundation. Rewind 30 years and Antimo was tasked with promoting Viva and set about looking for a weekend DJ. He spotted Dave Allen playing at The Tropicana (another great club from back in the day) on Thursdays and explained to Dave he could play whatever he wanted if he would DJ at Viva.
Antimo Rivetti Ok, I was on holiday – and paying a visit to our former city resident and one-time manager of Curiosity Killed The Cat was on my California itinerary anyway!
Antimo told me: “Dave was a great weekend DJ and what made Viva all the more appealing was that we had two to three live bands playing every week from Tuesday onwards. It was an excellent venue for live bands and at the weekend it quickly became the place to be.
“Dave, who’s playing at the anniversary, was supported by Yan Basarab, Mark Goodliff, Rayan Gee and other guest DJ’s and Viva started to develop a big cult following. Before long the owners had to introduce a membership scheme and I remember people queuing down the block! But after only three years the city council wanted to develop the river area and Viva was forced to close, however, its influence and legacy live on.”
Back in the 80’s Woodston boy Antimo Rivetti (pictured sitting on my Bonnie) was a bit of a maverick entrepreneur. He was part of a ‘scheme team’ made up of the founders of Papa Luigi who together were the masters of promotion and PR. One of their successes was opening Viva La Rock nightclub in 1986 and this year marks the 30th anniversary of this legendary venue that stood on the edge of the river where Rivergate now is.
“It wasn’t the largest of venues but that added to the atmosphere. The owners, bar staff and doormen were all part of one big family and we were the envy of the town at a time when there were some very good clubs operating.” Antimo went on to remind me of the friendly doormen I remember so well (I was in my early teens and collected entry money behind a small table halfway up the stairs). I have memories of Graham’s brother Nigel keeping an eye over security and fellow boxer Lenny Gloucester too.

Today, Antimo lives in a beautiful part of sunny California where he makes his own wine, which I can vouch for as being top drawer. He’s now a busy real estate wizard but always makes time to reconnect with his Peterborough roots. Antimo’s due a visit before the end of the year, wouldn’t it be great if he could make the anniversary bash…

eterborough Cathedral dominates the city centre and is a huge tourist attraction that’s just gained even more of a pull with the launch of the new Cathedral Visitor Centre. Hundreds of people have already visited and there are plenty more events of interest lined up at this landmark over the coming weeks.

New this month is the chance to view the city’s fireworks displays from the top of the tower and a fantastic exhibition of photos of the building by local photographers which you can vote for.

There’s also a changing programme of exhibitions inside and from November 24 to January 6 it’ll feature photographs shortlisted in the Peterborough Cathedral at Night photography competition and you can vote for your favourites.
Once Santa's made his grand entrance he'll be taking up residence in his grotto instore. On that day visits will be on a limited first come, first served basis but you can book in advance. The grotto will be open for visitors from Monday November 21 – Saturday December 24.
But first – let’s talk the new Cathedral Visitor Centre. This latest attraction has been brought to life with support from the Heritage Lottery Fund. Step inside this free exhibition and you’ll discover some of the characters and stories from the Cathedral's amazing 1300 year history. It has a timeline showing priceless artefacts from AngloSaxon times to the present day, as well as handson exhibits, a digital touch-table and an audio presentation. There are lots of fresh ideas to get local people to engage more with the Cathedral and one of our favourites is the new Bonfire Night Rooftop Tour, on Saturday November 5 at 7pm. What a great way to see the city’s fireworks and then back at ground level, enjoy mulled wine and seasonal treats in the Cathedral. You’ll need to book though, so head to the Cathedral website.
Amongst the priceless artefacts on show is the original letter from King James I, written in 1613, requiring the mortal remains of his mother, Mary Queen of Scots, to be removed from Peterborough to Westminster Abbey.

The new autumn/winter menu has a great selection of dishes with tastes from around the world we can’t wait to try. BA SHOH IS A HIT ON BROADWAY From the mains section I ordered the Railway Lamb Curry, which was juicy chunks of lamb cooked with potatoes, flavoured with garam masala and pepper. I followed this with the Karahi Chicken – Chicken Tikka cooked with fresh tomatoes, ginger, onions and fresh green chillies to give medium heat. I love nothing more than a good Indian restaurant meal out with the lads. The problem is, with so many different spices and flavours to choose from, it can take me a while to place my order. Thankfully, during a recent visit to Ba Shoh (formerly Imperial Bento on Broadway) I was lucky enough to be given a few different dishes to try. From the starter menu I ordered Royal Hara Chicken, which is served with pear and coconut chutney, spiced medallions of chicken breast marinated and cooked in a coating of green herbs. I also tucked into the Tawa Chilli Prawns served with coconut dip. Both starters were fresh and full of flavour.

The décor of the restaurant is modern and stylish, and the food here was authentic and quite simply delicious. In fact, it was the best curry I’ve had in a while. PRÉVOST CELEBRATES MICHELIN LISTING It’s been on his hitlist for years and we suspect local chef Lee Clarke is still dancing around his kitchen at new restaurant Prévost after gaining a place in the coveted 2017 Michelin Guide. It’s more good news for Peterborough’s dining with The Beehive also gaining a listing. Prévost chef and owner Lee Clarke was delighted – “I’m over the moon that we’ve been listed in the Michelin Guide, and especially that it’s happened within just six months of opening.” Set in the former Flyers Club on Priestgate, Prévost offers innovative tasting menus ranging from three to nine courses, and all produce is sourced as locally as possible.

If you’ve ever fancied yourself as an agile skier gliding down a beautiful white powdery mountainside pulling some stylish moves as you traverse and shimmy along off-piste, then you’ll need to learn a few moves before tackling the big slopes. As with all skilled activities you’ve got to start somewhere and skiing can be a little trickier than those winter Olympians might make it look.
I
took the family to our local dryski slope at Tallington Lakes to make use of their impressive 100m slope and the smaller training slope to see how we could get on in our first crash course. I’d skied about 20 years ago up in sunny Scotland when I was a fresh-faced teen and was hoping I might still have some basic skills in the memory banks but this didn’t quite warrant skipping the beginner slope just yet. Ethan,

Oonagh-Mae and Sarah had never skied at all so we all took to the training slope to start some basic moves and a few silly walks too. The lesson went really well for each of us, all giggling as we wobbled around but everyone took to it quickly as we moved higher up the slope each time to learn new moves and most importantly ‘how to stop’. After a few goes on the little slope I figured it would be a wasted opportunity not to go to the top of the main slope and weave my way down once the old ski-legs had remembered what to do. Luckily I nailed it and managed to look pretty composed and natural without taking a tumble so that was a relief. We had a really enjoyable session, our instructor was great and
helped each of us quickly get the basics covered so for our next session we can all take to the bigger slope and brave some longer runs.

We’re looking forward to the next visit and I’m pretty sure I’ll soon have the rest of the gang going from the top of the big slope in no time.

paparazzi Caught in the act? THE SUE RYDER THORPE HALL 25TH ANNIVERSARY BALL An evening of style and sophistication awaited guests celebrating 25 years of Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall Hospice in Peterborough. The James Bond-themed ball, Licence to Thrill, saw over 330 guests greeted by a fleet of Aston Martins and two of the latest Maserati cars. It was a real red carpet event and as the iconic Bond theme played, a white searchlight lit the front of the mansion house. Inside each table was themed around a different Bond film, 007 actor or memorable character and Peterborough's former X Factor contestant, Nicole Lawrence, sang great renditions of Diamonds are Forever and Goldfinger. The trademark blonde quiff is back along with the powerhouse vocals as Emeli Sandé returns to hail Long Live The Angels with her new album…
T
o celebrate the release of her single Hurts and her great new album, Emeli has just performed her most intimate shows in years performing in Glasgow, her hometown of Aberdeen, Manchester and then culminating at London’s beautifully iconic St John at Hackney. Emeli says, “I really wanted to reconnect with my fans on an intimate level, it's been a really long time, so much has happened and these small shows felt like the perfect way to catch up.” This second album Long Live The Angels comes out on November 11 and marks a brand new chapter in her life, “I’m proud of my first album and thankful for the experiences it gave me, but I’m so much happier with my new album and with where I am in life.” It’s hard to believe it’s four years since the resounding success of her critically acclaimed number one record, Our Version Of Events and a lot’s happened in that time. She broke chart records, awards came thick and fast and of course there was her spellbinding performance at the London 2012 Olympics ceremony. Her debut album Our Version Of Events was not only the biggest selling album of 2012 and second biggest selling album of 2013, but it was also certified 7x platinum, spent seven non-consecutive weeks at No.1 and exceeded The Beatles' previous record by spending 63 consecutive weeks in the top 10 and selling over 4.6 million copies worldwide.
As 2013 came to a close, it’s no surprise that the singer/songwriter was exhausted and unable to ignore the strain it was putting on a number of close relationships, “Sounds a bit dramatic but I just wanted to disappear. I just had this overwhelming sensation and realisation everything had to stop,” she reflects, “And then slowly it did.” Now, she’s let go and opened up, and she’s come out stronger than ever, “In retrospect, I was like a pressure cooker waiting to pop off. I had to stop and really look at myself and realise who I was. That’s been the biggest lesson for me, learning to feel comfortable in who I am and what I represent and what I stand for.” There’s a huge sense of new-found freedom which comes over strongly in the album and is clear in the single Hurts, an uplifting ballad brimming with heart and soul. “I wanted to release Hurts first because it felt like everything I’d avoided saying for so long,” says Sandé. “It’s a real explosion. It’s everything I wish I’d said years and years ago. I didn’t want to hold anything back anymore.” Emeli premiered the track on Radio 1’s Live Lounge, alongside a reworked version of Heaven, No.1 single, Read All About It as well as a stunning cover of Rihanna’s Four Five Seconds. “This entire album is about me not holding back and not censoring myself, and Hurts is an explosion, it’s just…real talk,” explains Emeli. “I made sure the production wasn’t overworked,” Emeli points out. “And I really went for it vocally!”

NEW BOOK REUNITES LOCAL PHOTO STARS Here at ESP we’ve long been supporters of photographer Chris Porsz ‘the paramedic paparazzo’ who’s spent years capturing the social history of Peterborough through his pictures. Chris told ESP – “After nearly 40 years in the making it will be wonderful to finally fulfil my dream of publishing Reunions. I have had many set backs but it has been a true labour of love.” This amazing book will soon be available from the Visitor Information Centre and Waterstones on Bridge Street as well as Chris’ website. Creating definition but still light on your hair, the salt spray can be scrunched onto damp or dry hair to add body and movement for animated, natural-looking waves without stiffness or crunchiness. I used this by spraying it onto damp hair then blow drying it for the best crumpled look.
The Oil Wonders Volume Rose collection is amazing for ladies with fine hair who want a bit more volume and oomph. It comes in shampoos, conditioners and mousse. The best news is, it can also decrease the time it takes to blow-dry your hair by half (yes, really!) I took the mousse home to try. For supple volume, apply a golf ball size of Volume Rose Plumping Mousse from roots to ends. I then dried my hair and styled as I usually would. And guess what, it works.

GLORIA’S CHARITY CHAT Gloria Hunniford (of BBC fame) came to the Holiday Inn Peterborough recently to speak at a charity ladies lunch raising funds and awareness for the Breast Cancer Unit at Peterborough City Hospital. It was a privilege to hear Gloria speak about her time in broadcasting and her daughter’s own personal battle with Cancer. It was such a lovely and well supported event hosted by Heart FM’s Kev Lawrence with over 300 ladies attending and with glorious singing from our friend Nicole Lawrence. Over £10,000 was raised so well done to Carol Collier and her supporting team for a great event.

Often they wouldn’t truly realise the full benefits of old friends until their last few weeks and it wasn’t always possible to track them down. Many had become so caught up in their own lives that they’d let golden friendships slip by over the years. There were many deep regrets about not giving friendships the time and effort that they deserved.

ver the years I’ve had the privilege of working with many clients either on a one-to-one basis or in groups at transformational detox retreats. Recently it’s become evident that many people are feeling life’s not all that it could be and that it’s going by so quickly, yet there’s so much to be experienced. Some of life’s biggest questions such as ‘who am I or what is my purpose, what makes me happy?’ are being asked, especially when faced with challenges like losing your job, a relationship breakdown, death of a loved one, a health issue or just living in times of great uncertainty as we are now. When we recover from any of these challenges we may look back and say ‘that was the best thing that ever happened to me’ as we find ourselves in a more loving harmonious relationship, or we finally find a career that best expresses who we truly are or we regain our health. We may find as we get older when looking back over our lives we wished we had stepped out of the comfort zone we’ve been dozing in for years. I recently spotted an article written by author Bronnie Ware who was a palliative care nurse for years who wrote about the clarity of vision many people gained at the end of their lives. She kept notes which developed into a book called The Top Five Regrets of the Dying. Now I know it’s not the cheeriest of topics but bear with me! We can acknowledge regrets at any time

in our life and the regrets Bronnie recorded are a common thread which might just resonate with you now…
TOP FIVE REGRETS 1. I wish I had the courage to live a life true to myself, not the life others expected of me. This was the most common regret of all. Looking back it was easy to see how many dreams had gone unfulfilled, most hadn’t honoured even a half of their dreams. It’s important to try and honour at least some of your dreams throughout your life. 2. I wish I didn’t work so hard. This came from every male patient she nursed; they missed
their children’s youth and their partner’s companionship. Women also spoke of this regret but many were from an older generation and hadn’t been breadwinners, many of the men she nursed deeply regretted spending so much of their lives on the work treadmill. By simplifying your lifestyle and making conscious choices along the way, it’s possible to not need the income that you think you do, and by creating more space in your life you become happier and more open to new opportunities, ones more suited to your new lifestyle. 3. I wish I’d had the courage to express my feelings. Many people suppressed their feelings in order to keep peace with others. As a result they settled for a mediocre existence and never became who they were truly capable of becoming. Many developed illnesses relating to the bitterness and resentment they carried as a result. We can’t control the reactions of others. However, although people may initially react when you change the way you are by speaking honestly, in the end it raises the relationship to a whole new and healthier level. Either that or it releases the unhealthy relationship from your life.
It’s common for anyone in a busy lifestyle to let friendships slip. But when you’re faced with the end, the physical details of life fall away. People want to get their financial affairs in order if possible, but it isn’t money or status that holds the true importance for them. It comes down to love and relationships in the end. 5. I wish that I’d let myself be happier. This is a surprisingly common one. Many didn’t realise until the end that happiness is a choice. They’d stayed stuck in old patterns and habits. The so-called ‘comfort’ of familiarity overflowed into their emotions, as well as their physical lives. Fear of change had them pretending to others, and to themselves, that they were content. When deep within, they longed to laugh properly and have silliness in their life again. When you’re at the end, what others think of you is a long way from your mind. Life is a choice, it is YOUR life. Choose consciously, choose wisely, choose honestly, choose happiness. Caught in the act? They trained hard, you cheered hard and the fun runners donned their fancy dress and raised thousands. It was, once again, a truly ‘great’ Eastern Run! This year’s event on The Embankment saw the Perkins Great Eastern Run have the highest turnout of runners in the race’s history. A total of 4,262 runners ran the half marathon and 1,257 people took part in the Anna’s Hope Fun Run. Entries for both the half marathon (5,224) and fun run (1,398) also eclipsed the previous highest totals recorded in 2013. Whilst the elite Kenyan runners took the winning honours in the half marathon there was local success for Eye Community Runners and Nene Valley Harriers who saw first boy and girl across the line in the Anna’s Hope Fun Run with Isaac Ellwood (15) and Ella Robinson (13) respectively. At one stage during the event more than 10,000 people were on The Embankment as runners crossed the finish line to cheers from a fantastic number of supporters and spectators. I was approached at the football club by family members and people close to Paul McCann, the 32-year-old who lost his life following the Great Eastern Run in the city centre at the beginning of October about the possibility of organising a tribute at the fixture. Paul was well known on the local football scene and was also a keen supporter of the Posh so we planned a minute’s applause in the 32nd minute to honour his memory. The Brewery Tap continues to give us a great night out with a relaxed vibe and if you like your tunes they’re getting their groove on a little more often this month as party season kicks in.
The guys behind it tell us if all goes ahead it’ll be a casual bar, built on over 15 years experience in the trade and in Peterborough’s own market.
Throughout November Saturday night’s resident DJ Rick Allen will be getting the dancefloor lively on both Fridays and Saturdays.
Matt Murphy from Puzzles told us – “We’ve been working hard to build something that fits in with Peterborough’s growing trend for restaurants and bars around the Cathedral Square area, but also provides a brand new drinking experience that the city hasn’t seen before.”

Following the success of Bill Bailey over the summer, Peterborough Arena has announced details of two other big comedy shows. First up this month is Billy Connolly (voted best comedian of all time by Channel 4) who’s appearing here on Friday November 25. Then next year we can look forward to John Bishop who'll be performing two shows at the venue on November 22 and 23 2017.
It's been encouraging to see people actively try and find a solution. First of all with a petition set up by local man Barry Warne. Barry's better known for his athletic prowess as part of Nene Valley Harriers but his petition ran up over 1,200 signatures over the summer. Barry described the venue as "a sparkling jewel in Peterborough's crown" and told me – "Peterborough needs The Broadway Theatre, it does not need more flats. The Broadway is good enough for Bill Kenwright to use for his legendary productions, and is a massive asset to the city. The theatre must remain as an entertainment venue." The Theatres Trust has also been taking an active interest and liaising with Peterborough City Council. The Trust added the Broadway to its list of theatres most at risk and has worked with other cities to help save similar venues under threat so let's hope they can help on this one.
This is great news for fans of live comedy and shows we have a venue that can attract the biggest names in comedy. Aside from starring in numerous films and TV series, Billy’s toured worldwide continuously for the last 50 years, performing to an audience of over 10,000,000 and now this is our chance to catch him live. Support these gigs folks and more will follow! So from one venue on the up, to another facing an uncertain future. The Broadway Theatre is, at the time of me writing this, either potentially being sold and turned into flats or being saved and kept as a theatre. Every day seems to be bring a new chapter to what is or isn't happening with it, but it will be a sad day for the city if we lose this iconic building.

Next year, will be 80 years since the building was first opened as the Odeon cinema. Designed by architect Harry Weedon (who also designed the legendary Leicester Square Odeon in London). At the time the only building in Peterborough city centre that was bigger was the Cathedral... and I know which place I worshipped in more as a kid! I was there for Star Wars, Back to the Future, four of the Bond films and then when it became a theatre there were some epic nights of laughter. Russell Brand, Al Murray, Dara O'Briain, Jimmy Carr, The Mighty Boosh, Al Murray, Harry Hill, Frank Skinner, Paul Merton and Ben Elton. This is where Ardal O'Hanlon led the audience into a mass sing along of My Lovely Horse. This is where Rob Brydon had an imaginary light saber fight with Warwick Davis, where Mitchell and Webb did their Numberwang sketch. (It's also where I might be chaining myself to the doors of the building with Barry Warne next month if it gets sold for flats.)

My attempt at photo bombing! I have to say congratulations to Colin 'Citizen' Smith and choreographer/dancer Monique Benoiton who got married a few weeks ago. With such a talented couple it was the live music 'wedding of the year'!
I’ve got to applaud local lad James Ellis who’s pulled together some famous names for a big gig at Peterborough Arena in aid of local charities.
At both the wedding reception and the stag do the guests included a veritable who's who of local musicians, singers and dancers. The Airwaves provided some superb music at the reception and they were joined by a number of guests as the evening went on.
James has entirely masterminded the Musicality event on Friday November 4 which will see B.O.B, Jay Sean, Scouting for Girls and Toploader take to the stage!
It was a fitting evening for a lovely couple.
FAT CHANTZ CHRISTMAS BASH The guys from local band Fat Chantz have been on to tell me about their latest gig which sounds just the night out you need to get you in the festive spirit. If you're looking for a pre-Christmas night out with live music and very reasonable bar prices then Fat Chantz's Christmas bash should fit the bill. The show on Friday November 25 will feature three live bands playing very different styles of music. The line up includes the popular Pennyless the local four piece electric folk group, the Electric Warriors the well known live three piece band and of course Fat Chantz themselves a seven piece covers band so it certainly sounds like there’ll be something to suit all tastes. Not only that, Vernon Kay will be hosting the night and playing a live DJ set. James was inspired to pull the night together after a friend was injured and he felt he wanted to support several charities that are close to his heart.

KINGS CLIFFE LADS FENECH-SOLER ARE BACK! While previous releases have seen them collaborate with the likes of Galantis, Starsmith and Tim Goldsworthy, this Kaleidoscope EP is confidently selfproduced.
It’s always good to see local talent doing well and hearing local lads Fenech-Soler on Huw Stephens’ Radio 1 show recently was a treat. The guys, who hail from Kings Cliffe, have returned with the four-track Kaleidoscope EP, their first new material since 2013 which is out this month. Now a duo comprising brothers Ben and Ross Duffy following the amicable departure of Andrew Lindsay and Daniel Soler, FenechSoler are back with a brighter, bolder and more eclectic sound.
Fenech-Soler have released two albums, their self-titled 2010 debut and the 2013 follow-up Rituals, and headlined gigs all over the world, including Shepherds Bush Empire on their last UK tour. Despite Ben being diagnosed with testicular cancer back in 2011 and having to have treatment, it’s been great to see him back fit and healthy, but also to see the band go on to do so well.
