EVENT HISTORY & RECORDS

CHAMPIONSHIP GAME RECAPS 2007 [NOVEMBER 18] James Dews scored nine of his 17 points in the second half to lead Miami to a 64-58 win over Providence to win the championship. The 6-foot-3 freshman guard, who added two rebounds, scored five points during the last 90 seconds. The Hurricanes also got 16 points from Brian Asbury and 12 from Anthony King. Weyinmi Efejuku led Providence with a game-high 21 points and Dwain Williams added 17. The Friars jumped out to a 20-12 lead on a jumper by Efejuku with 2:53 to play in the first half. Providence led 22-18 at the half. But Miami rallied at the start of the second half when Brian Asbury connected from beyond the arc with 16:08 to go. Providence rallied to take a 51-50 lead with an Efejuku 3-pointer and 4:11 to go. But the Hurricanes surged with strong play from Dews in the final minutes. Providence’s Geoff McDermott, who scored eight points and grabbed 11 rebounds in the title game, was named the most valuable player.

2010 [NOVEMBER 21] Blake Hoffarber hit the winning 3-pointer with 1:31 left to lift Minnesota to a 74-70 win over West Virginia. Hoffarber hit four 3-pointers and scored 12 points for the Golden Gophers as Al Nolen compiled 17 points and Trevor Mbakwe added 16 for Minnesota. There were nine lead changes and the score was tied 10 times in the title game. Hoffarber finally hit the decisive shot on a baseline 3 in front of an exuberant Minnesota bench with 1:31 to go and a 7370 lead. The Gophers tossed up a wild shot as the shot-clock expired, giving the Mountaineers one more chance to tie with 24.3 seconds left. But West Virginia missed two shots - Nolen was up in Casey Mitchell’s face on a 3-attempt on the first one and they missed around the basket on the next. The Gophers hit one free throw to secure the win and held the Mountaineers without a field goal for the final 3 minutes. Mitchell scored 27 points for West Virginia.

2008 [NOVEMBER 23] Terrell Holloway made 10 free throws without a miss and finished with 13 points to help Xavier beat Memphis 63-58. B. J. Raymond and Jamel McLean added 11 points each for the Musketeers, and C.J. Anderson finished with 10. Tyreke Evans led Memphis with 12 points, but was 4-for16 from the field. Robert Dozier and Antonio Anderson each scored 10 points. Both teams struggled from the field, with Xavier shooting 36 percent and Memphis finishing at 32.7 percent. Xavier was 25-for-37 at the line, while Memphis was 15-of-30. After Memphis’ Rubert Sallie tied the game at 37-37 with 15:28 left in the game with his only points of the game on a three-point shot, Xavier gained 45-39 and 51-45 leads in the next eight minutes. Doneal Mack’s three-point basket earned the Tigers a 5251 edge with 6:07 remaining before Terrell Holloway’s two free throws with 5:37 left gave Xavier the lead for good. Anderson was named the most valuable player for the tournament.

2011 [NOVEMBER 20] Trevor Releford scored 20 points to lead Alabama to a 65-56 win over Purdue. The Crimson Tide point guard added five assists and four rebounds, and Alabama used a 19-4 burst midway through the second period to earn its first regular-season tournament title since winning the Las Vegas Classic in 2007. Robbie Hummel led Purdue (4-1) with 17 points and Kelsey Barlow added 11. Tony Mitchell had his 10th doubledouble with 14 points and 10 rebounds for the Crimson Tide to earn most outstanding player honors at the tournament. JaMychal Green added 14 for Alabama and Levi Randolph had 12. Alabama held the Boilermakers to 35 percent shooting (20 of 57).

2009 [NOVEMBER 22] Scottie Reynolds scored 21 points and Corey Stokes added 18 as Villanova beat Mississippi 7967. Antonio Pena added 17 points and 16 rebounds for the Wildcats, who did nothing to diminish their status as favorites in the Big East during their trip to the Caribbean. Villanova used an 8-0 run in the opening minutes Sunday night and led 27-23 at halftime, holding the Rebels to only 29.6 percent shooting from the field. Villanova wound up shooting 41.5 percent and outscored Ole Miss 36-18 in the paint, and the Rebels were just 12 of 21/57.1 percent) from the foul line. Chris Warren led Mississippi with a game-high 24 points. Terrico White added 14 points and nine rebounds off the bench, and Murphy Holloway finished with 10 points.

Smart had a pair of 3-pointers early, part of an 8-2 run in the first half that gave the Cowboys a 13-9 lead. Smart finished with 18 points in the first half as the Cowboys led 38-28 at the break. Nash took over the scoring load for Oklahoma State in the second half. He scored 17 second-half points. Forte added three 3-pointers in the second half. He had a dunk and two free throws to make it 42-28. Nash added a layup with 14:25 left to give the Cowboys a 15-point lead at 48-33. Our new office is opening next week Did we put something about that on the blog?

Who’s updating the blog? Is it supposed to be me?

Cool old space, nice trendy neighborhood

How am I going to keep an eye on both offices?

Where are we with the new business proposal?

Do we need a new booth for the tradeshow next month?

Okay, so who’s in charge of booths? Is that supposed to be me?

I LOST MY HEART THERE alina4u, Georgia

Old San Juan The pretty houses, the narrow winding, slopy cobbled streets, the plazas here and there, those wrought iron balcony rails and that smattering of colors - and I haven't even counted the historical places, lovely eateries, nice cafes, wonderful local vibe. You can’t miss Old San Juan, and once you are there and back, YOU CANNOT STOP MISSING IT :) Live your own five star vacation story.
