Good design serves man’s needs, physically and psychologically.

YEAR: 18/19 I LOCATION: BERLIN I BUILDING: RESIDENTIAL

UP SITE Situated in Neukölln, Berlin, the Rollberg area gives an interesting new perspective on urban development. Between the vibrant Hermannstraße on the west edge and karl marx starße on the east border, the former Kindl brewery was the economical powerplant of the area. Since its shutdown, the area around became more than a transitory space between the Schillerkiez or Heideck Settlement and the area around the Neukölln townhall. Those open spaces located around the Kindl Square invite to try out urban experiments under aspects of densification. Not all of the open spaces transfer the same amount of quality. In the task to create a new masterplan, we decided to maintain the axis between the mentioned quarters and strengthen the existing typical Rollberg atmosphere. Which is for us an informal, hidden space where you can participate in various creative and social activities.

To create an urban square, we densified the area. The Brewery is now part of an urban ensemble of three buildings around a squareshaped piazza. Nevertheless, it’s still the highest.

To provide more space for social interaction between various neighbors and visitors we decided to use the huge space on top of the kartbahn (Berlin Kart) building. It’s up to 16,50 meters high, providing public and private roof terraces with the view overlooking the skyline of Berlin. There are two options to enter the flats. Either through the main entrance from the piazza itself or at Rollberg street. It’s possible to reach the second entrance on the south side by car and enter the elevator which is connected to all the floors. So people of all ages could live in a well-connected community. Moreover, such an exposed location should be opened to the public. Therefore, there is a library, a gallery, a gym and a youth center/event space. In times where the social forces are drifting apart, it`s getting more and more important to have an interactive place where people gather. We hope that this could take place at our “Up Site” project.

YEAR: 2017 I LOCATION: KHARGA OASIS-EGYPT I BUILDING: TOURISTIC RESORT

El WAHAT RESORT Located far away from the hustle and bustle of the city, 60 Kilometers south of Kharga Oasis, we find the buildings of “New Baris Village”, still existing since 1964. However, abandoned and in need of an infrastructure that serves and brings it back live. The task was to design a resort that holds accommodation and services for visitors who wish to experience and see the old climate-responsive architecture prototypes of the village, as well as getting introduced to the culture of the city’ inhabitants. It is a place for those who are curious and brave enough to leave all the temptations of the city and come to spend a few days to enjoy the serenity of nature in a different way.

The grid for the project’s layout is following the grid from Baris Village’ buildings neighboring the site.

Form Generation The original prototype of the buildings from the neighboring village is adopted and transformed into a similar one with keeping the courtyard inside, however, with a contemporary appearance. The new prototype is formed with clusters including the rooms for guests, connected with bridges, for the ease of circulation. 15

The resort offers a stress-free life for those who decide to come and stay for a few days, or even a week. Whether by camping or booking a room, every guest will be able to benefit from the facilities of the place, from the swimming pool to playgrounds, horse riding and visiting the workshops.

YEAR: 18/19 I LOCATION: BERLIN I TYPE: FLYING AND FLOATING STRUCTURES

FLYING SPHERE Flying structures explore the manifold history of the kite through design, fabrication, geometry, and utility. From its earliest use as a measurement tool for the city, the 2000 year history of the kite is deeply rooted in architectural and urban investigations. This seminar explores the architectural possibilities and future of what is the world’s oldest form of aircraft. Design, construction and flying techniques are the basis. The concept of the kite was inspired by Hoberman’s sphere, however, this one is not deployable, it is flyable.

YEAR: 2018 I LOCATION: Port Saied-Egypt I BUILDING: Touristic Restaurant

Industrial Restaurant The task was to design a restaurant with my own choice of a style. And it went towards the industrial style, for its honesty and strong elements. As it tends to emphasis on the construction work that’s usually hidden in other interior styles/movements. Which I also perceive as a brave way of expressing the raw materials of a building or construction in an aesthetical way. The final design included different textures, materials, and elements that belong to this style/movement. Not to mention the big/high openings that allow the maximum daylight to enter the place.

The design included different elements, features, and textures representing the movement. Starting from the concrete, plastered or brick walls, to the exposed AC pipes without a false ceiling covering it. As well as the concrete floors, and the selection for wood as a strong material for furniture, shelves, and light features. Not to mention the strong appearance for the metal in different elements.
