Kadıköy Opera, Balet, Visual Arts and Culture Center
KADIKÖY attraction center convenient transportation network to serve to people from all walks of life protected neighborhood fabric, Moda always dynamic, living, active social and cultural diversity coast access historical peninsula panorama focal points meeting point, Bull Statue
OPERA esoteric to has a specific program huge and enormous usually living at night
OPERA in KADIKÖY where should the opera house be located? how will it the effect on fabric? how will it the effect on silhouette? how can the opera house always living? how will it hide its hude ? what can it offer? which can it satisfy the need else?
Disconnected green areas are connected to each other so, connection of Moda-Kadıköy line is intensified. Also in Haydarpaşa-Moda coast line is provided continuity of pedestrian flow.
The paths are created on green area to take as a referance extensions of the Kadıköy and Moda axles that are intensely used.
Opera House, which is located on the line where the flow is the most heavy, is fragmanted also in order to attract the green with this flow. It is lightened.
The water, which is a factor that increases publicity, is leaked into the green area by spliting of building in order to strengthen this flow and attractiveness.
The deviations, which are influential on the flow, the view, the focal points on landscape design, is taked an active role in shaping the building also.
There is a common area, the foyer, designed to interconnect the two building on the water. A view is provided to one of the most beautiful views of the city from here.
Analyses
Terraces, that provide panorama to Moda, Haydarpaşa, Historical Peninsula, are created. Thus, Opera House is lightened.

AIM AND DESIGN DECISIONS Some concepts such as pedestrian flow, open space, focal points have an impact on the formation of the site plan. As it is seen in the analyses, Kadıköy-Moda line is disconnected. In order to strengthen this line, open space design is made. Thus, the continuity of the pedestrian axis is also provided on the extending coastline from Haydarpaşa to Moda. In order to open Kadıköy square to this area, incerease the usability and mobility of the area, it has been decided that the location of the Opera House within the site area will be in this manner. For this purpose, at the point where the flow is the most density, the building, that meet this density on the other hand embracing, is designed. Both for this purpose and to approach the human scale by getting rid of its bulky state, the building is divided into two parts along with the function. However, these fragmented two buildings ist combined in the top elevation. Thus, it is provided that the building is perceived as a monolith from a different view.

In other to make attractive the density and to make contact with the water, it is generated an idea that water should leake towards into green. Performance can be done on this water and people can spend time on the sitting areas that was designed around water. Opera House, such as landscape, which is exposed to some breaks according to flow, density and water, was born from this landscape also and is broken again according to the view and focal points. This design is begun from the site plan has been tried to be felt the opera house interior also. Terraces (voids) are created at facades facing the Moda, Historical Peninsula and HaydarpaĹ&#x;a of building and interior is considered according to this purpose. Foyer area provides common usage in both buildings and performances can be made after projection. Also, this space can be used as library, exhibition area, restaurant/cafe.

Transforming Yedikule Gasworks
AIM AND DESIGN DECISIONS By making attention to the historical maps and the researches made before, it has been tried to provide the sustainability of the market gardens along the wall. The marketplace is placed so that it has a close relation with bostans. The shell is despersed into the area in an organic way by making attention to the marketplace, the gasometer and the entry/exit points of the existing constructions. The other parts of the shell are placed in this direction with the aim of connection between the urban fabric of Yedikule and the coastline. By making attention to the entry/exit doors of the two big existing buildings, the cirtculation is continued from the interior of the existing buildings and considering this stuation, the newly designed buildings is fragmented. While the building A is designed as a building where the gastronomy education takes place with the presence of a restaurant; the building B is designed with the aim of increasing the public uses by containing exhibition spaces, libraries and educational areas. The closed volume of the current gasometer is designed as an auditorium. It is aimed to generate a landmark by raising different sorts of plants on the top of this 32m heigh structure.

Ground Floor Plan
In this project area located in the forest, four buildings that each have a floor area of about 50 m2 are designed. Three of these will be used as a guesthouse and the other as a workshop. After the workshop events, it is planned that people stay in these buildings. It is a simple, functional, easy to as-built consept project. Each of the buildings is located according to slope and also private areas look at the different directions. Buildings are connected to each other by continuous paths. The facades facing the landscape are designed as transparent as possible. Wood is used on the facade and metal coating is used on the roof.

According to the other consept project, this alternative project is a more entertaining, complex one of the building types and difficult to as-built project. Buildings are formed by the coming together of different components. This situation is enabled to use upper parts (terrace) of the buildings also. One of the buildings is designed as a workshop and the others as guesthouse. The buildings located according to the slope and the scenery are connected to each other by continuous paths. In addition, an open air theater is created by using the slope.

Growing Pots
AIM AND DESIGN DECISIONS The flowerpot is formed by overlaying various pieces. These parts are joined to each other by 3 different connection sections. Three different equilateral pentagons are preferred for the sections. The scale of the section varies according to the function of the part to be added.
The section which is designed for the companion plant to grow with potatos.
The bottom and top section of the piece are selected from the 3 diferent connecion sections we have determined. According to the purpose of the piece, in order to determine the middle knuckle, a pentagon is drawn and rotated in a size between the lower and upper parts of the cross section.
When the pot pieces are added to each other, they fill with soil
Worms help to the plant for growing with their fertilizers.
Specified 3 sections are raised at specific heights. The sections above and below these sections are merge sections suitable for joining with the preceding and succeeding sections.
The pieces which are added to each other, supply the need of place of potatos.
The pot begins with a fixed and closed bottom piece.
The edges of the sections are joined together to create triangular fractures. Units emerge this way.
Diagrams
Since the cross-sections of the parts are common, the pot can provide a variety of combination alternatives. In this way users can create their own pots. There are a number of joints in the upper and lower parts of the units. When the units come together, they pass through the junctions. The pot grows like this. Model Photos

School for Tropical Savanna Climate of Africa
AIM AND DESIGN DECISIONS “Not build on a place; but build from a place Taking this motto as a base climate of Africa, physical conditions, culture and its resources become the most important inputs of this project. Tropical savanna climate can be thought as a transition region. This area affects by hot-arid desert climate in North, tropical humid climate in South and oceans in West-East axe. This variety in climate conditions reflect on resources. In our project, we aim to encourage African people for using these various resources which they have excessively in their constructions. In the result of our researches we found out the cities in our project have wide bamboo forest areas. (Ethiopia, Kenia, Togo, Uganda etc.) In despite of this African people have lack of awareness for using bamboo as a construction material. Bamboo has advantages of being lightweight, high elasticity and great resistance. Its height changes between 12-20 meters and the parameter changes between 8-15 cm. In our projects bamboos are used as main structure. While we were arranging this structure, we are inspired by traditional water vase form of Africa and we designed a water storage into the center of the project. By continuening this structure we created a cover for the buildings and outdoor area. This cover provides protection from sun, air circulation and collecting rain water.

water vase Passive Climate Red lines, we allow the wind to enter from South facade with vertical and narrow openings. Heated air rises and exits from openings on the roof. We take the sunlight from north facade with small openings because buildings take sun from this direction and this facade is under the effect desert climate. Blue lines, the water canals between the foundations of buildings work as an air cooling elements.

AIM AND DESIGN DECISIONS To be able to produce the housing project without borders, open to everyone’s use. In addition, on the ground floor, it must be provided the continuity of both the pedestrian flow and the green area. For this purpose, the buildings on the commercial and social axis are raised on pilotis. Under these buildings are located commercial and social units to strengthen the axis. Thus, under the raised buildings are also offered the different and various uses. Some areas are collapsed to create more private spaces. In these private areas, the underground hobby rooms, that allow the common use of residential owners, are designed. There is also a culture and art center, sport courts and a skateboard park, all of which offer common use. Model Photo

AIM AND DESIGN DECISIONS The project area is located between Besiktaş’ adjacent buildings fabric. The area is a threshold due to its location. Because as from this point, the mobility and density which is dominant on the coast side, give way to calm towards the Abbasağa. The main purpose of the project is to connect the streets that open to the area and to provide pedestrian flow on the ground floor. For this aim, the buildings is fragmented on the ground floor and joined to the upper level. Circulation is the component that connects these two buildings together. In addition, the ground is rearranged and three meters height difference is overcomed with the triangular ramps and the stairs. It is the other aim of the project, to create a new square, a meeting point by attracting the density of the coastal side to this point. For this purpose, on the ground floor public spaces are created. Since the natural light is one of the most important problems for this buildings, the light need is also supplied from the roof. The area corresponding to the roof opening is designed as Wcirculation along the all floors and its some parts are considered as transparent. Thus, light is filtered through the all floors towards the ground floor.

Dwelling in Nature
AIM AND DESIGN DECISIONS Dwelling is designed on the surface of a cliff where located on the one of the points that we can make contact with sea. Clift, where is in the project area, provides us to move towards into the sea like a landing stage. It is decided that dwelling is located on the delicacy/ stagnant water that clift broken away the sea. In order to keep this delicacy, dwelling is designed to has the minimum scale a person is able to live.
Plan
Dwelling is created not by a single block, but by combinating of more than platforms that stuck to the cliff into. The platforms are fixed to the cliff by anchorages and concrete is sprayed to the remaining voids. Especially, in order to make contact with the water, floating platforms are considered. The facades are covered with coatings that function as a mirror and the reflection of the the opposite side of the cliff is provided. In this way, dwelling became more invisible in this fabric and the delicacy of the water is tried to preserve. The entrance of dwelling starts with the stone blocks that serve as a bridge and that are trapped between the cliff and clift. The platforms are mostly used for circulation because of the interior spaces are carved into the cliff.

To design a pavilion, which people can spend time under it, has a volume of 2mx2mx2m by testing its material performance. Flexible plywood is selected as a material. Because of the flexible plywood structure, it is difficult to cope with its and is able to release itself quickly. The strength of the material differs according to the fiber directions. The material is more resistant when used in a parallel manner to the fibers. However in this project, it is used in parallel manner to the fibers of the material. Because, how to be increased the strength of the material is studied and tested. Firstly, for this purpose, plywood is cut in a shreds manner and is varnished to prevent from weather conditions. Afterwards, they are opened the joints at regular intervals on the plywood and are fixed to each other from these joints. This system is also established dynamism of pavilion and is added a sculptural look to it.

To design a tube from sticks for a table tennis ball being able to travel inside of it and within this period, to provide different experiences to it. Sticks are located at regular intervals on this system by creating main skeleton system. The tube, which starts as an whole system, is bifurcated. Only one of them is the exit point of ball. Initially, three different entry points are designed for the ball to enter. However, only one of them has an exit point, like a labyrinthine. This is achieved by narrowing and expanding the paths inside the tube. Thus, the movement of the ball in the tube is directed.
