“The interior of the house personifies the private world Stephen Gardiner
Contrary to 2016 that was the year of minimalism and simple colors, 2017 interior design trends bring us warmful colors and mixed patterns and textures, with a strong connection to nature. Greenery Named the 2017 Pantone Color of the Year “Greenery” is meant to represent refreshment. The new must-have interior color, used in a feature armchair or cushions and decor items as an accent, it adds depth and can bring in the colors from the outdoors. With a slight change we get Dark green, another big trend for this year, that creates a wintery Scandi backdrop for tan leathers, reindeer furs, brass lamps and natural linen. For Essential home green is always present, whether it is in the use of Guatemala marble on our casegoods like the Craig family, for example, or in the textile where we have many tones of green as it’s possible to see on Bardot armchair or the Jones dining chair. Upholstered bedheads Beds will change dramatically in 2017, with upholstered bed heads set to replace the timber bed frames currently dominating the market. Whether you opt for the classic model, in neutral color with buttons, or a plush one in velvet, a bedhead is an easy way to update and add instant glamour to a bedroom as you can see, for example, on our Sophia bed. For some time, this has been a staple in luxury hotel bedrooms and celebrity homes and now is time for everyone to fall in love with this trend. Retro Style Similar to what it has been happening for the last years, Retro Style will keep being a big trend in 2017. You have to be clever to work this into an interior stylishly, and it’s a trend that projects a youthful energy. It’s about pattern clash, bright geometrics and Sharpie-style black outlines. This retro style has everything to do with our inspiration, the midcentury. When you look to our Dandy sideboard, automatically you travel to the 50’s and it seems you are looking for an old radio.

Beat the Blue Cobalt blue, has it ever gone away? That shade so beloved of artists and tastemakers – from Yves Klein and Matisse, to Yves Saint Laurent at his magical Jardin Majorelle. Like denim, Cobalt is an easy color to mix with so many other shades and materials, from whites and pinks to terracotta, rattan and cork – materials that are also experiencing a renaissance. If you take a look at our Mansfield armchair it’s easy to imagine it on your living room. It’s an eye catching piece, as you will notice with the visits that you’ll receive at home. Texture Another big trend for this year will be the textures, how we combine them and how we get along with them. Weaving texture into an interior makes it more inviting and the idea of mixing fabrics and materials will be on the rise. We’ll be seeing a lot of material manipulation such as pleating and folding in velvet and cottons. It’s all part of a larger macrotrend of confort. For Essential Home, mix materials and textures is frequent as we like to mix marble with wood, brass or textiles, for example. Looking at our Edith sideboard you can easily see that, this sideboard is made of wood with brass legs and marble top, it’s also lined in velvet that gives that final elegance touch.
