HADAS CARADAS (THE FOOD FAIRIES) RAISE €16.000 FOR CHARITY
The Asociacion Hadas Caradas (The Food Fairies) recently held their yearly charity event to make sure underprivileged children enjoy a fabulous Christmas. The event, called Cirque de Siroko and held at Siroko Beach Marbella, raised €16.000. It was organised by Kara Caradas, Jack Bourke and Lynn McCabe. WTC GIBRALTAR CHARITY GOLF DAY RAISES TEERIFIC AMOUNT FOR TWO CHARITIES
A record amount of money was raised at this year’s World Trade Centre (WTC) Gibraltar Charity Golf Day at the prestigious La Reserva de Sotogrande golf course. The event, now in its third year, raised £3,850 for Cancer Relief Gibraltar and Hogar Betania Spain. Some 32 players, members and guests of the World Trade Center Gibraltar, took to the course and battled for the cup. SPECSAVERS’ NAME A GUIDE DOG PUPPY COMPETITION HAS A WINNER
CALPE resident Mildred du Plessis Hickey has been crowned the winner of the Specsavers Ópticas ‘Name a Guide Dog Puppy’ Competition. The winning name, Nakoa, means ‘brave’ in Hawaiian. Specsavers Ópticas received nearly 150 entries for the competition, run in conjunction with the ONCE Foundation for Guide Dogs (FOPG) during the month of October.A judging team from FOPG chose the name owing to its originality and meaning. i www.specsavers.es PROINSERMANT TURNS 40
Prestigious engineering group, Proinsermant, recently celebrated its 40th anniversary in the company of approximately 100 professionals from the high-end engineering sector. NAO VICTORIA DOCKS IN PUERTO BANÚS
Nao Victoria, a replica of a legendary ship that took part in the first voyage around the world from 1519 to 1522, recently docked in Puerto Banús. The voyage, led by Magallanes and Juan Sebastián El Cano, lasted three years and 14 days, with the crew sailing some 32,000 nautical miles. The replica, which measures 26 metres in length and seven metres in breadth, has voyaged extensively, visiting various European countries as well as the United States. i www.fundacionnaovictoria.org
Renowned Architect, Alberto Campo Baeza, recently received the National Architecture Prize at San Felipe Neri in Cádiz. The prize was awarded by the Minister for Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda, Raquel Sánchez Jiménez. Campo Baeza is the winner of various international prizes, including the Heinrich Tessenow Gold Medal in Germany and the Arnold W. CUDECA REMEMBERS JOAN HUNT WITH EMOTIVE VIDEO
Cudeca Foundation's Volunteer Department recently produced its annual video to pay tribute to the work of its volunteers and to thank them for their dedication. This year’s video is dedicated to Cudeca’s Founder, Joan Hunt O.B.E., a woman who emphasised the importance of volunteer work to the hospice.
