Málaga’s most glamorous fashion event, the Pasarela Larios Málaga Fashion Week, was a roaring success. FIRST SPACE HOTEL PRESENTED
AT SUTUS MARBELLA
The first-ever commercial space hotel, which is expected to open in 2027, was presented at the Space and Underwater Tourism (SUTUS) event at Les Roches, Marbella. The luxury resort, launched by Orbital Assembly, will have a restaurant, bar, gym and other exciting features. Also at the event, Space VIP expressed its wish to inspire the next generation of private astronauts, Axiom Space spoke of building cities in outer space, and the Space Tourism Society covered the growing range of spatial experiences. The event was attended by industry leaders like Nancy Vermeulen (private trainer of astronauts at the Academy of Space Training) and Susan Kilrain (a retired astronaut).

LES ROCHES EXPANDS ITS CAMPUS AND SIGNS NEW AGREEMENT WITH THE WTO
Les Roches Marbella is going from strength to strength, with enrolment rates rising by 65 per cent over the last decade. The school has signed a memorandum of understanding with the World Tourism Organisation (WTO), under which both institutions commit to innovation, entrepreneurship and digital transformation. The school recently presented its new residence in the presence of the Secretary General of the WTO and the Mayor of Marbella, Ángeles Muñoz. PUEBLOS CHARITY INITIATIVE
The Fundación Pimpi has organised a charity initiative called Soles De Málaga Pueblos, featuring five fiestas that will take place simultaneously in five pueblos: Benalmádena, Rincón de la Victoria, Mijas, Alhaurín El Grande and San Pedro de Alcántara. The aim is to raise funds for charities located in each of these municipalities. These are: Cudeca (the cancer care hospice), Asalbez (which aids patients with Alzheimer’s and their families), Aprodal (which helps people with disabilities), Apaffer (for people with fibromyalgia) and Fundatul (which also offers assistance to people with disabilities). i www.solesdemalaga.org

TALEÑT FORUM TAKES PLACE IN MADRID

BUSY DAYS FOR THE VITHAS XANIT
INTERNATIONAL HOSPITAL
The Vithas Xanit International Hospital has many new things to report this month. Firstly, over 70 students from private and public educational public colleges and universities completed their work experience at the Hospital, obtaining vital knowledge about the practicalities of working in health care. The Hospital also reorganised its Digestive Medicine Service, which is now headed by Dr. Pedro Rosón. He leads a multidisciplinary team of 14 professionals, who specialise in the diagnosis and treatment of digestive tract issues. Finally, a CT scan undertaken at the Hospital on stalagmites will enable scientists to understand the evolution of Málaga’s paleoclimate more accurately. i www.vithas.es
THE SPANISH POKER CHAMPIONSHIP
AT THE CASINO MARBELLA
Casino Marbella will be hosting the eighth stage of The Spanish Poker Championship from October 8 to 16. The event, which is now celebrating its 15th edition, will feature a complete programme that includes four events and seven satellite tournaments. For the first time in this circuit, the stage will feature a special High Roller tournament with a €1.000 entry fee. VISITS CUDECA
Cancer hospice, Cudeca, recently received a visit from Hugh Elliott, the British Ambassador to Spain. He and his wife, María Antonia Martín, were given a guided tour of the building and met staff who recounted the history of the palliative care centre founded by Joan Hunt. The tour of the installations then moved to the recently inaugurated Yusuf Hamied Centre, headquarters of the Cudeca Institute of Studies and Research in Palliative Care.
