A Beginner's Guide to Make & Take Parties

Page 1

HOW TO HOST A MAKE & TAKE New to all this? And maybe just a tad nervous to host your first oil class? No worries. We're going to walk you through what to do and what you'll need, even if all you have is your starter kit!

WHAT'S A MAKE & TAKE? Here's the rundown. Basically, you invite your friends to your house (or another location) to talk them through the basics of oils, and then everyone gets to make 2 or 3 (or more, depending on how many items you've chosen) oil-infused goodies to take home with them!

SHOULD I CHARGE PEOPLE? It's pretty common to charge people a flat fee - just enough to cover the cost of supplies. You could do something like 3 items for $10, 4 items for $15, or 6 items for $20. It all depends on how many items you want to have available for people to make!

BUT I'M NOT AN EXPERT. WHAT IF THERE'S A QUESTION I CAN'T ANSWER? Great! Your friends aren't expecting you to be an expert. They just want to hear why you're loving your oils and how you're using them. If someone asks a question you can't answer, take it as an opportunity to brag on our awesome tribe. "Ya know, I'm not totally sure, but our team has an incredible oily discussion group, so I'll find the answer and get back to you!

ESSENTIAL OILS 101 The thing people usually dread the most is the 'class' portion because it means you have to talk in front of people. Just keep things simple and you'll breeze through this like a pro!

SHOULD I DO THE 101 AT THE END OR THE BEGINNING OF THE PARTY? Doing the 101 portion at the beginning has a couple benefits. First, you'll get the hard part over quickly so you can relax & help everyone make their goodies. Second, it helps it feel like getting people to buy something isn't the main focus of the party. They get to end on a fun note, rather than a sales pitch. OK, HELP A SISTER OUT. WHAT SHOULD I SAY?! Keep it simple. Go over the kit oils & if people have specific questions, you can address those 1-on-1. Here's an easy 'script' you can follow when going through your oils: "THIEVES helps kill airborne germs and boosts immunity. PURIFICATION gets rid of bad odors & is great for spot treating blemishes! COPAIBA supports the body's response to inflammation & enhances other oils. FRANKINCENSE is great for your skin/ immune system & it promotes feelings of calm. RC is really great for respiratory comfort & supports healthy lungs. DIGIZE supports a healthy digestive system & eases nausea. LEMON is an energy booster & great for flushing toxins from the body. STRESS AWAY is exactly what it says! PEPPERMINT is great for head tension, breathing easy, & healthy digestion. PANAWAY is perfect for any aches or muscle soreness! LAVENDER is great for relaxation, healthy skin, & enjoying springtime outdoors. It's so versatile!" Just be sure to also share your personal testimonials. People buy stories, not products!

PARTY PLANNING DETAILS You can keep your Make & Take simple, you can make it an extravagant event, or you can land somewhere in the middle. There's no wrong way to do things!

SHOULD I PROVIDE FOOD? Totally up to you! It will depend on the time of your party, but light appetizers should be more than sufficient! If you're going to do food, consider some oil-infused snacks! Lavender lemonade, Dill or Basil veggie dip, and Peppermint brownies are all relatively simple and totally crowd pleasing! AND WHAT ABOUT DECOR? SHOULD I START SURFING PINTEREST NOW?? Look, guys. Everyone appreciates a picture-perfect party, but the truth is that that fancy feature wall you have in mind can bust your budget REAL quick. You want people to focus on the oils, anyway. Let the products shine in a simple display! Set your diffuser up and put in something yummy like Lavender + Stress Away. Cover the table you'll be using with some brown kraft paper to catch any spills. You can write the recipes right on the kraft paper or you can print recipe cards to display (and give to your guests at the end). Set out other YL products you might have so that people can see the wide variety of our product line! WHAT OTHER PRODUCTS MIGHT BE GOOD TO DISPLAY? Other products that usually catch peoples' attention are: Thieves Cleaner, Thieves Laundry Soap, any of the roll-ons (Deep Relief, Tranquil, Stress Away, Breathe Again), Pure Protein Complete, the ART Skincare line, and any of the KidScents oils. If you have more than one type of diffuser, it's nice to have those out so people can compare and see the different options.
