Ø Efficient land use, landscape planning and transport system
Waste Management Ø More than 99% of household wastes in Sweden is recycled in one form or another Ø Sweden has run out of rubbish for Waste – to – Energy recovery industry Ø Import waste from other European countries to use in power plants (e.g Norway)

What is Biogas?
Biogas is a renewable energy that is made from organic waste. In addiHon, Biogas is in demand by industry, both as a fuel and as a raw material in different manufacturing processes.
Development of Biogas in Sweden 1960’s: Produced at municipal wastewater treatment plant to reduce sludge volume 1970’s: Research and development into biogas due to oil crisis. ConstrucHon of new plants in order to reduce environmental problems and dependency on oil 1980’s: Several landfill plants collected and uHlized biogas produced in their treatment areas 1990’s Hll date: Several new plants have been constructed to treat organic waste (food & animal waste) and to reduce the local, regional and global emissions from the transport system
What is biogas used for? Ø The energy in biogas can be used for local heaHng and to generate electricity, which increases the proporHon of ‘green electricity’ Ø In Sweden Biogas is also used as vehicle fuel to run buses, cars and trains
What is biogas used for? Ø 100% Biogas for urban transport in Linköping, Sweden Ø The world’s first Biogas train headed down the track between Linköping and Vastervik on the east coast of Sweden Ø Biogas provides endless possibility's of how we can turn waste into a raw material
