Great-horned Owls
The male Great-horned owl perches on a limb in front of the larger female, acting as guardian. She peeks out from behind to survey the scene. This is a mated pair. We can expect two or three eggs to be laid in about a week. They may use the same ledge nest as the last two years but, that remains to be seen. We rarely get to see the mated pair perched side-by-side. It's a rare occurrence. Photo taken 03/03/18, 11:34 a.m.
