Beautiful Buck Now that the elk rut has calmed down a bit, it’s time for our resident mule deer to get into the action. In Colorado, mule deer are gearing up for their mating season. It’s a good time to remember to be careful around the bucks, as they can be aggressive and unpredictable this time of year. Also, they are not paying attention to roads or vehicles so be on the lookout and watch for wildlife in and near the road at dawn, dusk, and in the first few hours after darkness. Keep in mind that where there is one animal, there are probably others—young animals following their mother or male animals pursuing a female. Photo by: Robert Burns
