Spring is here and there are many special events coming up you won’t want to miss!. See pgs. 22 & 23.
Hallett Peak From Sprague Lake There are many spectacular views of Hallett Peak in RMNP and this is no exception. Sprague Lake is one of the most popular destinations in Rocky Mountain National Park mainly because of its easy access, excellent parking and relatively flat trails, close to the parking lot. The handicapped accessible walking trail goes completely around the lake. Make sure to bring your camera! Everyone will enjoy the scenic photographs you will capture at Sprague Lake. This peaceful place is one you won’t ever forget. Photo by Kris Hazelton
Trail Ridge Road in Rocky Mountain National Park is the highest continuously paved highway in the continental USA. Due to it’s high altitude, the road must be closed from October through May, due to extreme winter conditions and snowfall. Each spring, crews clear drifts up to twenty five feet deep. They start from both the west side and east side of the park and plan to meet somewhere at the top, near the Alpine Visitor’s Center, 12,000 feet above sea level. We will have a sneak peek at this year’s clearing in next week’s Estes Park News or, go to our website and Facebook page for early coverage. Photo by EPNEWS.com
