As the temperature drops, the university facilities has been working on relocating the ducks living on Wooster Lake to get them out of the approaching winter weather. “The conversation was, ‘when should we remove the ducks to their winter home?’” said Richard Jensen, physical plant utilities manager. “It was picked that we would (do) it after the week of homecoming, so that they would still be on Wooster during homecoming.” The ducks will be staying at a farm about 10 miles north of Emporia and will be cared for by Patrick Renfro, building systems technician, according to Mark Runge, director of university facilities. “They’ll be in our goat pen with the rest of our ducks, and be living with the pigs and the goats,”

Chris Lovett, Vietnam veteran, professor of social sciences and member of the Veteran’s Roundtable was the speaker for the annual meeting Thursday. “Christopher Lovett’s contribution to the wealth of information that has been disseminated in the Veteran’s Roundtable is titled ‘The Great Adventure: Emporia’s Company L 137th Infantry in the Great War of

All this was taking place and this was their first engagement.” Gerald Hansen presented his father, Charles Hansen’s, WWI family heirlooms. Gerald Hansen showed his father ’s discharge papers, photographs and dog tag. “This stuff is disappearing,” Hansen said. “There

Previously, the study abroad trip was planned for Colombia. After a governmental restriction was placed on the country, Guatemala became the new destination. “The essence of a study see TABLE page 2 abroad program is to expand the paradigm of students’ learning experience, as well as adopt new perspectives,” said Rachel Spaulding, assistant professor of modern languages. Spaulding said that stu-
dents should be allowed to “fight the perception of what Columbia is, rather than accept the stereotype that the government has given the country.” The trip will take place in the summer of 2018 and students are encouraged to fill out an application. “There are 12-15 spots to fill for this trip,” said Greg Robinson, associate professor of modern languages. “Three to five spots have already filled up because there is such an interest in going to Guatemala.” The trip will last two weeks and students will study one week in Guatemala City and a week near Lake Atitlan. “During our four weeks
