It’s incredible how ESU makes students feel like family. President Welsh knows me on a first-name basis, and my professors are always available to talk about anything. I feel like I matter here. When Jeremy Soto, a dual major in art + design and biology, was invited by the chair of the art + design department to paint a mural on a 43-foot long tractor trailer that sits behind the VFW in Tobyhanna, Pa., he jumped at the chance to put his creative side to work. “I am proud that I took on the task,” Soto said, “and that I stuck with it because there were a few times when I said to myself, ‘I am done with this. I don’t want to do this anymore,’ especially when the paint would pour down and wash away.” Soto hopes to one day have his own business in which he incorporates his passion for art, while also using his biology degree to assist companies with sustainable and efficient electricity management. When she finally arrived at Chelsea Studios where she was an intern for the Rachael Ray Show, she was braced for a day filled with anything and everything. charting a course An Affordable Education At ESU, we pride ourselves on making a great education truly affordable. Seventy-five percent of our students receive some type of financial aid, and our goal is to make obtaining your education stress-free and financially reachable. Aid includes grants, loans and scholarships. Many scholarships are awarded on the basis of outstanding academic achievement. Eligibility for most student financial aid programs (other than unsubsidized loans) is based on financial need rather than academic accomplishment. Financial need is the difference between the estimated cost of attendance and the ability of the family to contribute to those educational costs. ESU’s priority deadline for submission of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is February 14. To qualify for both need- and merit-based financial aid, you must submit your FAFSA at fafsa.gov. The earliest you may submit the FAFSA is January 15, 2015. ESU’s school code is 003320.
