This month etc&tal presents to you a great and talented gymnast of only 18 years old and already internationally known, Keanu Nunes. Born in Johannesburg, South Africa, Keanu lived five years in Switzerland and 13 years in Canada. The young athlete has practiced the sport of gymnastics for over 10 years where he trains 30 hours 6 days a week. Keanu is a member of the Portuguese Men’s Artistic Gymmnastics National team in junior division( under 18s). In the month of July, Keanu was promoted to the senior division. etc&tal: When and why did you start practicing gymnastics? Keanu:I never had interest in traditional sport facilities, such as football, ice hockey and others. My parents still let me try swimming and tennis, but I didn’t like any of those sports. However, I liked to climb trees do somersaults and cartwheels. Then a friend suggested I try gymnastics. Initially, I didn’t really like gymnastics, but after watching the Athens Olympics in 2004 I loved it. I wanted to be one of those gymnasts. Ten years later here I am. etc&tal: How many medals have you won? Keanu: It is difficult to know exactly how many medals I have won. But I remember that in the first competition which I participated I was nine years, I won 5 gold medals and 1 silver. Since then, I started winning numerous provincial and national championships. The most recent medal was in Portugal (Maia), where I represented Portugal at “Maia International Invitational Tournament”, where I won my first international medal silver on the rings. During the Portuguese National championship, I won 3 gold medals, 2 silver and 1 bronze medal. However, my proudest moment was when I represented
the Portuguese National Team at the Junior European Championships in Sofia, Bulgaria, in May 2014. The European Championships was the team event, so there were no individual medals. Portugal had a very positive result, finishing 14th out of 36 countries. etc&tal: What is your favorite event? Keanu: When I was younger, my favorite used to be the pommel horse, parallel bar and the vault. As I got older and stronger, my favourite is the rings, followed Pommel horse, and parallel bars. Keanu: I love the challenge, the ability to push my physical and mental limits, and the feeling of accomplishment, I also love the pressure of high-level competition. I can not blame the weather, the referee, a teammate or other circumstance. It is my responsibility to succeed. Sport is a great one to prepare for the future. From a very young age, I had to compete in front of judges, looking to see mistakes and this pressure makes me stronger as a person and disciplined. etc&tal: What’s your goal for the future? Keanu: My goal is and always has been to represent Portugal at the Olympic Games in Rio and all future Olympics games until I retire. My next challenge is to be selected for the Portuguese Senior Selection. In mid-March 2015 I will be moving back to Lisbon and I will train to achieve my goals.

Dia 4 de outubro os sócios Luis de Castro e Manoel da Costa abriram as portas do atelier Decordreams com um coquetel de inauguração para amigos, clientes e convidados. Luis é famoso por criar a decoraçāo do Brazilian Ball em Toronto durante 14 anos, além de outros mega eventos na cidade. Além disso, ele é muito procurado também pela sua versatilidade em criar decoração para qualquer tema, além de prestar serviços como confecção de cortinas e almofadas, além de estofamento de sofás. Inspiração é o que não falta. Manuel da Costa retratou à etc&tal a sua admiração pelas artes que iniciou com a sua formação em arquitetura, mas, deixou claro que Luis de Castro é quem tem o talento para criar e que ambos estão felizes com a parceria.
Last October 4 partners Luis de Castro and Manoel da Costa opened the doors to Decor Dreams studio at a launching cocktail party where friends, clients and other guests were present. Luis has become famous as the creator behind the Brazilian Ball decoration in Toronto for the last 14 years, as well as other big events in the city. He is also sought for his versatility in decorating for any theme, as well as providing services in the making of curtains and pillows, and sofa upholstering. Inspiration is one thing that Luis does not lack. Manuel da Costa described to etc&tal his passion for the arts which led him to his education in archtecture but he made it clear that Luis Castro is the talent behind their creations and that both are happy with their partnership.
