At Redcar & Cleveland College, we are dedicated to ensuring that learners receive the appropriate learning support tailored to their individual needs.

Please let us know about your needs on your application form. We will then arrange a support interview and ensure that appropriate provision is in place for when you join the College. We will discuss your individual needs, which will help us to identify an appropriate support package for you. Every day is different and each situation can be a challenge. Our goal is to ensure our students are respected, cared for as individuals and are encouraged to reach their full potential.

What kind of support packages can we offer?

Support packages may include: > Supervision and quiet areas within college > Communication with support workers > Advice and support through assessment with a teacher of the deaf > Advice and support linked to speech and language reports > Assistive technology > Note takers and scribes > Read and write software > Mobility software > Lift access, accessible toilets and personal care rooms > Support on work placement > Exam concessions and assessment > Nominated welfare support worker > Signposting to agencies where applicable

Specialist equipment We have a range of specialist equipment available for learners including specialist software such as Dragon Naturally Speaking and Read and Write Gold.

Students can also be provided with dictaphones, magnifiers as well as specialist keyboards and laptops.

Transition into college life We can arrange taster sessions so you can experience a course session of your choice and decide if it is right for you. We can also provide support during your college interview. Transition sessions can be arranged to meet course tutors, learning support staff and allow you to familiarise yourself with the building.
