FOUNDATION LEARNING

Our specialist programme courses are delivered within bespoke classrooms by a team of experienced tutors who will provide support and guidance during the course. Many students progress onto vocational courses, employment or supported internships.

ESOL

If English isn’t your first language, we can help you develop your spoken, reading and written skills. You will also make new friends, build your communication skills for everyday use, studying and getting a job. You will also have the opportunity to take part in our enrichment programme, enjoy vocational course sessions and have weekly tutorials with your course tutor and classmates.

ENGLISH FOR SPEAKERS OF OTHER LANGUAGES

COURSE LENGTH: 1 year ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: Photo ID, proof of residence status in the UK/EU and any previous ESOL certificates

WHAT WILL I LEARN? During this course you will learn how to use English for your everyday life and develop study skills. You will study speaking and listening, reading and writing. You will also work towards a Functional Skills/GCSE Maths qualification. Your course will include vocational course sessions, enrichment, work placements as well as weekly tutorials. WHAT’S NEXT? On completion of your ESOL qualification you can choose to progress through our ESOL courses to further develop your skills or study one of our vocational courses.

ENTRY LEVEL 2 CERTIFICATE IN USING EMPLOYABILITY SKILLS

COURSE LENGTH: 1 year WHAT GRADES DO I NEED? No formal entry requirements WHAT WILL I LEARN? Our Using Employability Skills course will help you develop key employability skills for the future. You will study a range of units including working with others, using communication skills in a work place, travelling to and from work and build confidence and self-esteem. You will also have the opportunity to gain experiences of vocational courses. WHAT’S NEXT? On completion of this course you could progress onto our Entry Level 3 Certificate in Skills for Employment, Training and Personal Development or you may achieve a greater level of independent living or move on to supported employment or voluntary work.

LEVEL 1 CERTIFICATE IN SKILLS FOR EMPLOYMENT, TRAINING AND PERSONAL TRAINING

COURSE LENGTH: 1 year WHAT GRADES DO I NEED? No formal entry requirements WHAT WILL I LEARN? Our level 1 course will help to prepare you for your next steps. You will be able to develop key skills such as team work, time management and interpersonal skills. You will also study topics such as basic food preparation and cooking, personal development and skills for independent living. You will also have the opportunity to take part in our enrichment and tutorial programmes. WHAT’S NEXT? Once you have completed this course you could progress onto a full-time vocational course or you may achieve a greater level of independent living or move on to supported employment or voluntary work.

ENTRY LEVEL 3 CERTIFICATE IN SKILLS FOR EMPLOYMENT, TRAINING AND PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT

COURSE LENGTH: 1 year WHAT GRADES DO I NEED? No formal entry requirements WHAT WILL I LEARN? This course combines both practical and theory sessions in which you will study units such as independent living, skills for shopping, customer service, basic cooking, healthy living and budgeting. Learning will take place within our brand new Foundation Learning Zone. WHAT’S NEXT? On completion of this course you could progress onto a level 1 vocational course of your choice, or you may achieve a greater level of independent living or move on to supported employment or voluntary work.

PRINCE’S TRUST

PRINCE’S TRUST TEAM PROGRAMME

COURSE LENGTH: 12 weeks

WHAT GRADES DO I NEED? There are no formal entry requirements for this course, however, you must be aged 16-25 and not currently in education, training or employment. WHAT WILL I LEARN? This 12-week course offers you the opportunity to get involved in an action-packed residential, a rewarding community project, an informative work placement, a fun team challenge and more. You will be supported throughout the programme by a dedicated team leader. This course is completely free, all travel expenses are refunded, and existing benefits will not be affected. You will gain a Prince’s Trust Certificate in Employment, Teamwork and Community Skills. WHAT’S NEXT? Our Prince’s Trust courses focus on helping you to move on in life, so whatever you want to do staff will help guide you as you plan your next steps.

PRINCE’S TRUST ACHIEVE STUDY PROGRAMME

COURSE LENGTH: 1 year WHAT GRADES DO I NEED? There are no formal entry requirements for this course however you must be aged 16-19. WHAT WILL I LEARN? If you are unsure what you would like to study or would like to develop your confidence and employability skills, this study programme could be perfect for you. This course will cover topics such as enterprise, customer service, money management, career planning, presentation skills and healthy and active lifestyles. You will also study English and maths Functional Skills or GCSE and undertake a work placement two days per week which will provide you with valuable skills and knowledge in a real working environment.

WHAT’S NEXT? You could move on to study a school leaver course, apprenticeship or enter employment. Our Prince’s Trust courses focus on helping you move on in life, so whatever you want to do staff will help guide you as you plan your next steps.
