If you enjoy helping others, a career in the healthcare sector could be perfect for you. Working in this industry can be extremely rewarding. Our health and social care courses will give you the skills you need to work in one of the many roles available.

If you don’t have English and maths at GCSE grade 9-4, you will continue to work towards this as part of your main programme of study.

LEVEL 1 DIPLOMA IN HEALTH AND SOCIAL CARE AND CHILDREN’S AND YOUNG PEOPLE’S SETTING

1 YEAR

WHAT WILL I LEARN?

This course is designed for students who wish to progress into a career in the childcare or health and social care industry. The course will cover topics including communication, safeguarding, equality and diversity, physical care for babies and health and nutrition of both adults and children.

WHAT GRADES DO I NEED?

Three GCSEs at grade 2 or above or an entry level qualification in a related course.

WHAT’S NEXT?

On completion of the course you could progress on to our level 2 courses in childcare or health and social care.

LEVEL 2 DIPLOMA IN HEALTH AND SOCIAL CARE

1 YEAR

WHAT WILL I LEARN?

This course is delivered through a combination of both practical and theory sessions. Practical sessions will take place in our specialist health and social training wing which will provide you with the very best equipment to train with. During the course you will cover key topics such as communication, equality and diversity, human growth and development and safeguarding as well as completing a work placement.

WHAT GRADES DO I NEED?

Four GCSEs grade 3 or above or a level 1 qualification in a related course.

WHAT’S NEXT?

After you have completed this course you could progress onto our Level 3 Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care or secure an apprenticeship. Following this you can enter a vast array of health and social care related roles including nursing, paramedic, radiography, social work, occupational therapist or counselling.

LEVEL 3 EXTENDED DIPLOMA IN HEALTH AND SOCIAL CARE

2 YEARS

WHAT WILL I LEARN?

Our Level 3 Extended Diploma will provide you with in-depth knowledge and skills of the health and social care industry. You will learn about empowerment in health and social care, protection, anatomy and physiology and dementia awareness. You will have the opportunity to develop your skills on our trip to Romania and also complete a work placement during the course.

WHAT GRADES DO I NEED?

Four GCSEs at grade 4 or above including English and maths or a level 2 qualification in a related course.

WHAT’S NEXT?

After you have completed this course you could progress on to university to study a range of degree courses such as midwifery, nursing, occupational therapy and more or you could enter employment within the health industry.

LEVEL 3 DIPLOMA IN ADULT SOCIAL CARE

1 YEAR

WHAT WILL I LEARN?

This exciting new course will allow students to spend one day per week in college studying and four days per week working or volunteering in residential care home settings. You will learn more about a wide range of areas including supporting individuals with their physical and emotional care, daily living needs and health and social care procedures as well as the responsibilities of a care worker, duty of care, safeguarding and protection and communication in care settings.

WHAT GRADES DO I NEED?

There are no formal entry requirements for this course however learners must be aged 16 to 18 years old.

WHAT’S NEXT?

Learners can progress directly into employment in a range of roles within care settings.
