LEVEL 1 CERTIFICATE IN INTRODUCTION TO BUILDING SERVICES AND ENGINEERING

Course length: 1 year

WHAT WILL I LEARN?

This course will provide you with introductory skills in plumbing, electrical installation and engineering. You will learn about health and safety, electrical circuit installations, hot, cold and drainage plumbing systems. You will also cover basic engineering skills and an overview of renewable technologies, which will include wind turbines, solar thermal and also solar photovoltaic systems.

WHAT GRADES DO I NEED?

4 GCSEs grade 3/D including English and maths or an entry level qualification in a related course.

WHAT’S NEXT?

After you have completed this course you could progress on to one of our level 2 courses in electrical installation, engineering or plumbing.

LEVEL 2 DIPLOMA IN PERFORMING ENGINEERING OPERATIONS

Course length: 1 year

WHAT WILL I LEARN?

This exciting course provides you with the practical skills required for a career in a wide range of engineering disciplines. You will learn maintenance skills, manufacturing skills, machining and fitting, work planning and how to read engineering drawings.

WHAT GRADES DO I NEED?

4 GCSEs at grade 3/D or above or a level 1 qualification in a related course.

WHAT’S NEXT?

On completion of this course you could progress on to one of our level 3 engineering courses or look to secure an engineering related apprenticeship.

LEVEL 3 EXTENDED DIPLOMA IN MECHANICAL MANUFACTURING ENGINEERING

Course length: 2 years

WHAT WILL I LEARN?

During this course you will learn about health and safety, principles of engineering and mechanical manufacturing engineering. You will also learn key engineering skills such as machining materials by turning, milling and grinding. This is a popular course for students wishing to pursue a career in advanced manufacturing.

4 GCSEs grade 4/C or above including English and maths or a level 2 qualification in a related course.

WHAT’S NEXT?

After completing this course you could move into higher education to study a HNC or degree in engineering or look to secure a higher engineering apprenticeship.

If you don't already have a GCSE grade 9-4/A*-C, you will continue to work towards this as part of your main programme of study.
