This is a conceptual and collective book. It is the result of the work carried by a group of young Catalan architects, that represent a particular shared sensitivity in a moment of change.
The book puts forward a series of thought-provoking ideas for a different way of intervening in the city, one that is sensitive to the dynamics of urban processes, based on a proposal submitted to the competition for the regeneration of Plaça de les Glòries in Barcelona and the process which led to this proposal.
Although the resulting project is not what might have been expected in conventional public space planning, it is an honest reflection on Plaça de les Glòries, on Barcelona city, and on town planning as a system.
The ideas set out in this book make a case for the possibility of leisurely
and evolving urban planning and management, in line with the challenges bequeathed us by a failed model of development based on growth as paradigm.
