Summer Clubhouse

Pre-elementary Clubhouse Pre-elementary Clubhouse (childcare) provides several options for parents. During Pre‑elementary Montessori Camp weeks, Clubhouse is only available to students who are attending the camp. Full or Partial Day Clubhouse Options for Weeks Without Pre-elementary Montessori Camps June 15–19 | August 3–7 | August 10–14 | August 17–21 Hours: 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Clubhouse Before and After Options for Attendees of Pre-elementary Montessori Camps June 22–26 | June 29–July 2 (Closed July 3) | July 6–10 | July 13–17 | July 20–24 | July 27–31 Hours: 7:30 a.m. until the start of Montessori Camp and after Montessori Camp until 6:00 p.m. Rates: $12.00 per hour in half-hour increments. Montessori Camps Pre-elementary (Must be 3 years of age by September 1, 2020) Life in the Farm Oink! Moo! Neigh! Cluck! Spend the Summer at the farm and get to know animals that live there. Summer Montessori Camp students receive an introduction as well as an opportunity to practice and master the various Montessori materials. There are lots of enrichment activities, including arts and crafts, stories, music, cooking, sewing, and science experiments. Both indoor and outdoor activities are presented in a rich Montessori learning environment. Register for one or more weeks. Week 1: June 22–26 Week 2: June 29-July 2 (Closed July 3)

Lower Elementary (Grade 1-3 in 2020-2021 Academic Year) Students join a certified Montessori teacher (Lower Elementary and Early Childhood) for a variety of academic enrichment activities throughout the day, including Language Arts, Mathematics, Geography, and Art. During the week, students have the opportunity to participate in a small group setting and receive individualized lessons. The week provides a valuable orientation to our Lower Elementary program. Week: August 10–14 (Camp will be canceled if less than five full-day students are registered by June 30.) Summer Tutoring and Camps

Summer Tutoring Eton School's Librarian, Ms. Poppy Louthan, is offering student tutoring on campus this summer. Ms. Louthan specializes in reading and writing, with certification through Wired for Reading and training in Handwriting Without Tears. Tutoring sessions with Ms. Louthan are available to students who are entering grades 1 through 5. Each session is for an hour and held on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, with time slots from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.. at a cost of $65/1 hour session. If you think your child would benefit from further reading and writing support through the summer, please sign up for a session from the available times in the registration form. Week 1: June 22–26

Summer Camps: Information & Registration Eton School offers a wide variety of Summer Camps from June 15 through August 14 for P3 (age 3 by 9/1/2020) through grade 12. The following pages are filled with a variety of half and full day camps. Peruse through the pages, select desired camps, register online, and give your child a summer learning adventure!

Grades P4, K, and 1 Morning Soccer Shots Summer Camp

Soccer Shots offers low coach-to-player ratios, professional staff, and an age-appropriate curriculum. This camp uses a soccer camp curriculum to teach advanced soccer skills, all while keeping our fun, safe environment. Each day will also include a soccer craft and a soccer lesson. Register your child to a perfect combination of indoor and outdoor fun this summer! Little campers, ages three and four, participate in themed weeks and hands-on learning. There are age-appropriate arts and crafts, experiments, and lots of fun activities, balanced out with quiet time. Mezzo camp is the perfect way to introduce your child to learning skills, such as following a schedule, how to behave in a group setting, and, most of all, knowing and getting along with other children. Grades K and 1 Full Day Journey Around the World Through Art (2 Weeks: June 15-19 and June 22-26)

Ms. Oshiro's two-week camp takes campers on a voyage around the world while exploring multicultural art and discovering the art history of different cultures. Students learn new skills through the use of a variety of mediums and techniques. Art projects include pottery, origami, glass infusing, jewelry making, weaving, painting, embroidery, textile, and block-printing, to name a few. Join Karate-X this summer for one exciting and challenging week of sweat, discipline, determination, and fun! Students learn and practice Karate skills with punching bags, breaking boards, blocking drills, kicking targets, and more. Each day includes cardio, strength, and agility training to keep bodies primed for mobility, action, and good health. The professional instructors know how to challenge and motivate students while building self-confidence and discipline. For beginners who have never tried Karate, to athletes of any sport, Karate-X Summer Camp challenges and grows both bodies and minds! Join Miss Amelia, Eton School's Art teacher, for five fun-filled days of recycled arts and crafts! Students learn to re-purpose used materials into artful treasures through a variety of artistic techniques and fun projects ranging from painting, mosaics, and 3D sculptures to making unique gifts for others. Afternoon Robotics for Little Coders

Robotics for Little Coders with Ozobot is an opportunity for young children to develop their computational thinking skills, build their first programs, and have fun with new friends! Ozobot’s programming is designed specifically for early readers, taking into account the cognitive abilities and typical attention span of children ages five through seven. This camp introduces students to basic coding concepts with simple tasks, such as customizing their Ozobot and assigning commands through different colors, then builds up to more complex tasks with Ozobot’s simple drag-and-drop language. Campers use code blocks and characters to gain a foundation in computational thinking, creating animated stories and games. Bright visuals and engaging design enhance the learning process, making it easy for them to develop essential STEM skills for our tech‑driven world. Start your child's coding journey by letting them create games! Campers learn the core concepts of computer programming laying the foundations for future coding success. A variety of projects, such as chasing games, mazes, and animated stories, allows campers to use their creativity while learning coding concepts like loops and variables. The unique curriculum and small class size provide personalized instruction helping them to progress at their own pace while being appropriately challenged. Students have access to their personal Scratch account that allows them to continue working on their coding journey at home. Grades 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8 Full Day Treehouse Thespians (2 Weeks: June 22-26 and June 29-July 3) (No Camp on July 3)

Taught by Eton School's very own Eleanor Withrow and Amelia Sherritt, this camp invites campers to sing, dance, act, and craft with their favorite Drama and Art teachers. Whether this is their first time on stage or they are a seasoned pro, campers learn story creation, how to develop character, learn to block, rehearse music, and contribute to the design of their very own props, set, and costume, all while having fun and playing silly games! In the afternoon, on the last day of this two-week camp (July 2), campers have a culminating performance of a musical revue of their creation for friends and family. Grades 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 Morning Minecraft Modding

Prerequisites: Minecraft PC Account (Students need to bring their own Minecraft for PC log in to the camp. Xbox or IOS Minecraft accounts do not work for this camp. If you do not already have a Minecraft PC/Mac account, you can purchase one through the official Minecraft website at https://minecraft.net). Building Minecraft mods is a great way to learn programming, harness creativity, and enhance problem‑solving skills while making favorite games even better. Each camper has their own Minecraft server where they can customize the game with their world maps and features. They will be coding mods to create new items, environments, non-playable characters, game modes, and more! Using a simple drag-anddrop coding environment, campers accomplish exciting results with their one-of-a-kind Minecraft features. Week 2: June 22–26 Camps

Prerequisites: Younger students should complete at least one beginner session before taking this camp and have the ability to create simple games in Scratch independently. For older students, prior coding experience would be beneficial, but not required. Take your child’s game development skills up to the next level! Campers move on to more involved projects in Scratch that may include game concepts such as AI (Artificial Intelligence), physics, multi-level, or multiplayer functionality. Campers build on their current knowledge, learning more advanced concepts, such as nested conditionals and functions. Instructors serve as guides and coaches to small groups of campers using a unique curriculum and providing personalized instruction that helps students progress at their own pace while being appropriately challenged. Campers have access to their personal Scratch account that will allow them to continue working on their coding journey at home. When the three little pigs were ready to go out into the world, their mother warned them about the big, bad wolf. Which one of them was smart enough to make a sturdy house that would save them from the wolf? 1. Lesson: Every story teaches a lesson. 2. Confidence: Performing drama builds confidence in being in front of an audience. 3. Creativity: Children learn to think outside the box when they have to carry out a character. 4. Enter the world of self-driving cars! Build a robotic car. Starting with the individual components, campers assemble the vehicle's wheels and chassis, wire together the motors and sensors, and use an Arduino board as the controller. In this fun-filled culinary experience, campers put on their baking hat and apron with Miss Moua as they get introduced to the world of baking. Whether this is their first time in the kitchen, or they are professional bakers, campers learn essential baking techniques, methods, tips for customizing recipes, as well as presentation techniques. Grades 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8 Full Day Writing the Right Way: An Aspiring Writer's Adventure

Effective written communication is an essential life tool for success in school, leadership, and life! In this camp, through fun, inspiring, and challenging activities, campers explore the world of authors, journalists, poets, and more. They learn the elements of story-building and reporting and how to critically look at their work to create mesmerizing, memorable stories, articles, and other written communication, which will captivate readers and get their message heard. There will be a lot of writing, teamwork activities, games, challenges, and FUN! Grades 5, 6, and 7 Full Day iD Tech Game Creation and AI with JavaScript

Skill Level: Beginner-Advanced Age: Must turn ten by 12/31/2020 JavaScript is used in 95% of all websites in the world. Campers utilize this powerful language to learn the fundamentals of coding while building engaging, interactive games! They code projects with flashy graphics and read inputs to recreate games they love. Later on, campers try their hand at machine learning to incorporate voice, sound, and image recognition into their game. With artificial intelligence, JavaScript, and HTML, they make the next generation of games and pick up coding as they go. Skill Level: Beginner-Advanced Age: Must turn ten by 12/31/2020 Roblox is one of the fastest-growing game creation platforms on the planet, with more than 100 million players per month and top developers making over $1 million a year. Campers use Roblox's built-in editor to create 3D worlds, and to publish, share, and play games with friends on any platform from console to mobile. They study games that have been runaway hits and learn how to implement some of the same monetization strategies in their games. There are age-appropriate arts and crafts, experiments, and lots of fun activities, balanced out with quiet time. Mezzo camp is the perfect way to introduce your child to learning skills, such as following a schedule, how to behave in a group setting, and, most of all, knowing and getting along with other children. Grades P4, K, and 1 Morning Junior Scientists: All About Animals

Allow your child to cultivate their love of animals. In this camp, children learn various concepts of animal life cycles, characteristics, and traits using K'Nex toys as well as other interactive learning tools. Snapology makes animal science fun! Soccer Shots Summer Camp

Soccer Shots offers low coach-to-player ratios, professional staff, and an age-appropriate curriculum. This camp uses a soccer camp curriculum to teach advanced soccer skills, all while keeping our fun, safe environment. Each day will also include a soccer craft and a soccer lesson. During these five, fun-filled days, young chefs and artists join forces to cook up one of the tastiest workshops yet. Young Rembrandts campers learn to illustrate the thing we all love to do—eat! They draw, decorate, build, and color everything in the kitchen that relates to cooking and baking. Drawings include funny kitchen cartoons, detailed still-life scenes, and delicious details to make them complete. Prepare for artwork that looks good enough to eat! Register your artistic chef now!
