Morning Game Development: Beginner (Coder’s Ladder Experience: Level 1)
There is no better way to begin a child’s coding journey than creating his/her own game! Campers learn computer programming fundamentals by designing and coding their own computer games. Aspiring coders take their first steps up the Coder’s Ladder by building chasing games, creating mazes and animated stories. Campers learn and practice the core coding concepts that help lay the foundations for future coding success. The unique curriculum and smaller class size allow instructors to work with each student individually through personalized instructions, helping them progress at the own pace and ensuring they are appropriately challenged. At the conclusion of camp, students share their projects with family and friends and can continue programming at home with the Coding with Kids Scratch account.

July 23–27 Camps
Prerequisites: Understanding of basic coding concepts (variables, conditionals, debugging). Ability to independently create simple games. Students typically achieve this level of knowledge in one 8-week session of classes or one week of summer camps. Third and fourth grade students may need to double that experience, or should take two beginner camps before moving forward. This is for coders who are ready to take their game development skills up to the next level. Instructors serve as guides and coaches to small groups of campers as they build more complex games of their own. These games feature advanced concepts such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), game physics, or multi-player functionality. After the camp has ended, campers are able to share projects with family and friends and continue programming at home with their Coding with Kids Scratch account.
Grades 4, 5, and 6 Full Day iD Tech: Coding 101 (Skill Level: Beginner-Intermediate)
A future in coding begins here. This introduction to programming starts with the building blocks of a computer—the hardware. Then it's all about the 1s and 0s, discovering how coded instructions are executed directly by a computer's CPU. Building on this knowledge, students learn object-oriented programming concepts with JavaScript, and dive into fun challenges that foster real-world skills.

iD Tech: Coding and Engineering 101 (Skill Level: Beginner-Intermediate)
This is where coding and engineering collide. Start with the foundation of a computer—the hardware. Then get binary (01101100 01101111 01101100) to learn how a computer executes coded instructions. Put this together with object-oriented programming concepts in JavaScript and learn how to program the micro:bit, an interactive pocket-sized computer that's yours to take home. Use JavaScript to detect motion, send messages, and make games while developing real-world hardware skills.
