Quarantine Updates: Pakistan: • During last 24 hours, 66 new cases confirmed by different laboratories, bringing the national National Emergency Operation Centre tally to 1,057. One death reported in Punjab in last 24 hours. Total deaths 8 Helpline 1166 Summary Global: • Total cases: 471,407 Total Deaths: 21,287 • Total number of countries/regions affected: 174 NIH Preparedness and Response: New Calls 42,581 Cumulative Calls 152,633 • Contact tracing of confirmed cases being carried out by the RRTs. • Risk communication carried out among healthcare workers and affected communities during since 31st Jan, 2020 contact tracing. • NIH laboratory is providing support to provinces and regions for testing. Risk Assessment: Current impact of the disease in Pakistan is: High Provinces Preparedness and Response Balochistan • District Health Office Lasbela with the support of District Administration has started screening at the point of entry (Bab e Balochistan) Sindh • Sindh receives 500,000 KN95 masks from China Punjab • CM Punjab visit to UET, Lahore to assess the quarantine facilities established there. KP & TD • Awareness sessions on radio and through other means are on air in all districts. AJK • SOPs on COVID-19 prepared by Dept of AJK have been printed and distributed to all health managers for compliance GB • All suspected travellers coming from Taftan are being tested for COVID-19 Risk Communication Message: • Clean hands regularly with an alcohol-based hand rub, or wash thoroughly with soap. • Clean surfaces regularly with recommended disinfectants (70% Ethyl Alcohol or 0.5% bleach solution). • Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth with contaminated hands. • Practice respiratory hygiene by coughing or sneezing into a bent elbow or tissue and then immediately dispose off. • Wear a medical/surgical mask if you have respiratory symptoms and perform hand hygiene after disposing off of the mask. • Maintain a minimum of mandatory one meter distance from individuals with respiratory symptoms. • Healthcare workers are required to select and use appropriate PPE. Administrative controls • Ensure the availability of IPC resources such as PPE, appropriate infrastructure, clear IPC policies, access to lab testing, triage and patient placement, adequate staff and training of the staff. Environmental and engineering controls • Stay in ventilated rooms • Clean the surfaces with recommended disinfectants. Social Behavior Change: • Practice social distancing, particularly from individuals showing respiratory symptoms. • Avoid mass gatherings like weddings, cinemas, crowded shopping malls and restaurants. • Avoid gathering of more than 10-20 persons.
