Updates: Pakistan: National Emergency Operation Centre • During last 24 hours, 240 new cases confirmed by different laboratories, bringing the national tally to Helpline 1166 Summary 1,865. One death reported in KP and GB each, three deaths reported in Punjab and two in Sindh in last 24 hours. Total deaths 25. Global: • Total cases: 785,709 Total Deaths: 37,686 • Total number of countries/regions affected: 178 NIH Preparedness and Response: New Calls 88,946 • Contact tracing of confirmed cases being carried out by the RRTs. Cumulative Calls 620,574 • Risk communication carried out among healthcare workers and affected communities during contact since 31st Jan, 2020 tracing. • NIH laboratory is providing support to provinces and regions for testing. Risk Assessment: Current impact of the disease in Pakistan is: High Provinces Preparedness and Response Balochistan • VPD control programme has done fumigation of entire central jail Quetta • Spray pumps and disinfectants distributed to 10 districts Sindh • Distribution of N95 masks across the province was done Punjab • District level trainings of HDU/Isolation/Quarantine staff underway KP • Equipment and supplies including oxygen concentrators, cardiac monitors, infusion pumps, dialysis catheter and other PPE distributed among all districts AJK • Virology lab at Abbas Institute of Medical Sciences, Muzaffarabad has started PCR testing for COVID-19 GB • Education Institutions closed till 5th April,2020 as preventive measure Risk Communication Message: • Clean hands regularly with an alcohol-based hand rub, or wash thoroughly with soap. • Clean surfaces regularly with recommended disinfectants (70% Ethyl Alcohol or 0.5% bleach solution). • Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth with contaminated hands. • Practice respiratory hygiene by coughing or sneezing into a bent elbow or tissue and then immediately dispose off • Wear a medical/surgical mask if you have respiratory symptoms and perform hand hygiene after disposing off of the mask • Maintain a minimum of mandatory two meter distance from individuals with respiratory symptoms. • Healthcare workers are required to select and use appropriate PPE. Administrative controls • Ensure the availability of IPC resources such as PPE, appropriate infrastructure, clear IPC policies, access to lab testing, triage and patient placement, adequate staff and training of the staff. Environmental and engineering controls • Stay in ventilated rooms • Clean the surfaces with recommended disinfectants. Social Behavior Change: • Practice social distancing, particularly from individuals showing respiratory symptoms. • Avoid mass gatherings like weddings, cinemas, crowded shopping malls and restaurants. • Avoid gathering of more than 10-20 persons.
