Control Room Health Dept Govt. of Balochistan operational 24/7 for any kind of information & coordination regarding COVID-19 activities in Balochistan 081-9202080 / 111-400-400. The numbers of COVID-19 confirmed cases in Balochistan has risen to 552 with 57 new cases including overall 08 death (CFR 1.4). The active cases are 360 in province. 0ut of 552, 73% (404) cases are local transmission from Quetta (314), Chagai (11) Lorlai (06), Jaffarabad (21), Khuzdar (01) , Mastung (10), Kharan (02) Pishin (25), Killabdullah (05), Sibi (06) Ziarat (02) and Harnai (01). The District health management team Quetta with the support of RRT and MERC screened 1181 and 234 samples have been taken from suspects. Dr Masroor Alam, Virologist from NIH paid a visit to TB Control Program’s Provincial Reference Lab at FJ Hospital Quetta today on April 22, 2020 to assist the feasibility of BSL-III utilization and increase the testing capacity for COVID-19. He was accompanied by a Bio-Tech Engineer and Manager TB Control Program Balochistan. During his visit, the development work, maintenance of infrastructure & availability of lab equipment’s were highly appreciated. Thereof utilization, of the said Labs for COVID Testing was recommended.
Surveillance / Rapid Response Team / PDSRU: •
Today 22nd April 2020, 02 more deaths have been reported. The total deaths are 08 in province. The primary reason of deaths are renal failure / other co-morbidities. The deaths are taken because secondary came COVID-19 positive. Death Category with positive COVID-19 03 Renal Failure 03 Hypertension/Diabetes 01 ARDS 01 Carcinoma 01 positive patient recovered from SKBZ, Total recovered are 168 out of 536. The recovery rate of the globe is 27%, country (Pakistan 21%) and the highest rate is from Balochistan province which is 31%. The overall mortality and recovery rate of Balochistan province is better if compare to Globe, Country and other provinces which shows good response to disease.
Provincial RRT facilitated District RRT teams at EPI HQ Quetta. Total 21 persons screened and 21 lab samples taken by P. RRT from CM Secretariat and repeat tests of Positive cases. Provincial RRT attended meeting of contact tracing at PPHI office Quetta. Facilitated the training session of EPI staff regarding contact tracing at MERK PPHI office Quetta. Provincial Team lead RRT facilitated the safe and dignified burial of COVID_19 Positive case at Pishin. Meeting with DC and ADC Pishin regarding the isolation of Confirm COVID-19 case 12 family members after COVID_19 Positive tests

The 78% of cases are belong from Quetta followed by Pishin 6% Jaffarabad 05% and Chagai 03%. Now the new coronavirus / COVID-19, the illness it causes, are spreading among communities in Quetta and other part of the province. Due to high number of local transmission cases the community strongly follow the DoH instructions and stay home to avoid positive contact and do social distancing if meet someone new or go outside.

MERC 1122 Progress Deployment: • 08 teams (24 staff) • 03 ambulances with 06 staff for transfer of patients to isolation facilities • 01 Bike ambulance for RTA response Progress: • Collected 33 samples of Corona suspects. • MERC team responded to a RTA on Samungli Road. • Helpline 1122 received 10 calls (screening request). Consultation given by Medical Officers and responded by MERC team.
