BALOCHISTAN HIGHLIGHTS •

The number of confirmed cases has risen to 1935 with 59 new cases including overall 24 deaths (CFR 1.2). The active cases are 1669.

20 patients recovered from home isolation after two consecutive COVID-19 negative lab test. The total recovered are 242.

Local transmission is increasing, out of 1935, 91% (1,779) cases are from local community, Quetta (1,563), Chagai (17) Lorlai (07), Jaffarabad (27), Khuzdar (01), Mastung (16), Kharan, (03) Nushki (03), Pishin (62), Killabdullah (33), Sibi (13) Ziarat (08), Killasaifullah (03), Kohlu (01) Lasbela (09), Panjgoor (04) and Harnai (02). The Secretary health Mr Dostain Khan Jamaldini inaugurated PCR Laboratory at Bolan Medical Complex Hospital where the health care providers lab tests have been done on priority basis. Secretary Health chaired a meeting at BMCH for establishment of VENT ICU units to decrease mortality due to COVID-19.

Total deaths are 24 in province due to Co-Morbidity associated with COVID19. Highest numbers of deaths from Quetta (18) followed by Pishin (04) and (1) each from Lasbela and Sibi. Death 03 06 14 01

Secretary Health chaired a meeting, the participants were Commissioner Quetta Division, Special Secretary heath, DC Quetta, WHO and Operational Cell officials. The main agenda to talk about TTQ and Surveillance strengthen.

The WHO (Operation) team briefed Secretary health and his team about WHO role and responsibilities, and what WHO did in response of COVID-19 in early days, in addition future support to DoH. Provincial and district Rapid Response team screened 1811 persons for COVID-19 and took 145 lab samples of suspected cases for further lab diagnosis. The most affected age group was 30-44 years 32.46% (n=560) followed by 15-29 years 28.23% (n=487). The highest attack rate (43/100000 population) was in age group 60+ years followed by 45-59 Years age group (AR=35/100000 population). The overall attack rate was 13/100000 population in Province. The male 79% (1362) were affected than females 21% (n=363). The male to female ratio was 3.8: 1.

Provincial Rapid Response team RRT screened 1375 persons for COVID-19 and took 122 samples of suspected cases. RRT Lasbella took 07 samples of the family of deceased COVID_19 positive case. According to DHO COVID_19 cases are increasing and local transmissions also being reported. P.RRT developed SOPs for BMCH lab COVID_19 testing facility for health staff. The repeat test strategy revised and Teams will be provided Repeat tests on daily basis and daily review meeting will be held chaired by DC/ADC Quetta. P.RRT facilitated the Lab samples collection at Muslim Bagh District Killa Saifullah

PPHI-B/MERC Progress Awareness sessions (Male & Female) 54. Peoples aware on COVID-19 in Communities (Male & Female) 603. People Scanned 2020 Screening Activities through PPHI-B 21. No of Suspect cases identified/ referred 01. MERC Collected 40 samples of Corona suspects.

Surveillance / Rapid Response Team / PDSRU/PEI As of today, following number of cases were reported by PEI staff through ODK. 1. ILI = 538 2. SARI = 15 3. Suspected COVID Cases Reported by PEI Staff = 681 4. Suspected COVID Cases Investigated by PEI Staff = 664 5. Suspected COVID Cases became Positive = 78

EPIDEMIOLOGICAL ANALYSIS BY PDSRU OF 1935 CASES TILL 9th MAY 2020 PDSRU_FELTP is assisting Health Department in analysis of COVID-19 Cases. A total of one thousand and nine hundred thirty five (1935) confirmed COVID-19 cases were reported from Balochistan. The case fatality rate was 1.3%. The mean age of cases were 35 years, median age was 33 years, and with age range of 2 months -94 years.

Age Group: The most affected age group was 30-44 years 32.61% (n=631) followed by 15-29 years 28.17% (n=545). The highest attack rate (50/100000 population) was in age group 60+ years followed by 45-59 Years age group (AR=38/100000 population). The overall attack rate was 15/100000 population in Province.
