CLASS OF 2012 COMMISSIONED IN ANNAPOLIS With his grandfather being a retired Navy captain, David Phillips always figured he’d join the Navy. But during summer training away from the Naval Academy last summer, the midshipman from Davidsonville realized he wanted to join the Marines. The decision earned the soon-to-be second lieutenant friendly jabs from his grandfather. True to form this morning, his grandfather told him how much hotter his uniform would be than the white Navy dress uniform at commissioning.
