WELC O M E N AVA L AC AD E M Y CL A S S OF 20 1 6 Approximately 1,190 young men and women will arrive at the U.S. Naval Academy’s Alumni Hall, June 28 for Induction Day and will begin their new lives as “plebes.” More than 20,601 young men and women applied to be members of the Naval Academy Class of 2016, a record for the academy. “I-Day” begins when the incoming plebes are issued uniforms, given medical examinations, complete registration, receive hair-cuts and learn to salute. It culminates with the Oath of Office ceremony at 6 p.m. in Tecumseh Court, the historic courtyard of Bancroft Hall. Follow our coverage of the plebes’ first day on Facebook June 28.

VISITOR CENTER BOOK SIGNING

Photographer Roger Miller will be signing copies of his book “Maryland: A Portrait” at the Armel-Leftwich Visitor Center June 28 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

SWIMMING LESSONS

MWR Aquatics at NSA Annapolis will offer a two-week session of swim lessons July 9-19 at the South Severn Swimming Pool. Register June 28, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at MWR Bldg. #89. Lessons are offered in 30 and 45 minute classes. Thirty-minute class cost $46 for active duty dependents, $52 for all others. Forty-five minute classes coast $58 for active duty dependents, $64 for all others. Cost is $25 per person per 30-minute session during regular season hours. Call 410-293-3033.

MWR FITNESS B O OT C A M P

MWR Fitness at NSA Annapolis will offer a Boot Camp Class Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. until July 15 at the MWR Recreation Services Bldg. #89. The class is a total body, interval circuit training and involves moderate to high intensity training. Cost is $5 per class for drop-in rate, free for active duty.
