Faculty News Welcome to Andrew Swartzentruber, our newest faculty member, assistant professor and Director of Clinical Education! Andrew received his master’s in Healthcare Administration from the University of St. Francis in 2015 and a bachelor’s in Healthcare Leadership in 2012, also from the University of St. Francis. He has been a Radiologic Technologist for 12 years and is registered in Computed Tomography (CT) and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI). Andrew’s research interests are in MRI and CT safety, which includes improving the knowledge and effectively educating technologists on the importance of MRI and CT safety. Congratulations to Shirley Cherry, Program Director, on receiving CCRHS’s Distinguished Faculty Award for Teaching!
Department and Student News From November 5-11, the students and program faculty celebrated National Radiologic Technology Week. We commemorated the discovery of x-rays by Wilhelm Conrad Roentgen on November 8, 1895. The week-long celebration called attention to the important role medical imaging and radiation therapy professionals play in patient care and health care safety. Radiologic science students recently took over the college Instagram account (@etsu_ccrhs) to show some of the ways they are working together and learning how to positively impact patient’s lives! Below are several of the images from this fall.

The radiologic science program faculty are requesting donations to enable us to endow the Phil Carney Radiography Scholarship Fund. Once the fund is fully endowed, the scholarship can be given out every year through the interest of the account. It was established in memory of Phillip D. Carney who was employed by LeConte Medical Center for 39 years, where he served as the Director of Radiology. He was a mentor to numerous students and encouraged them to be their best and honor their chosen profession. In his words, "It is our job to open doors for others." The students who passed through his doors remember his words of encouragement, "Just come back each day." If you would like to contribute to this fund, please follow the giving instructions and put "Phil Carney Scholarship" in the memo line of your gift.
