A SMART MOVE
Caravan parks around the UK are already making the switch from electric heaters to air source heat pumps for their hot tubs. But why the change? And what are the benefits?
Over the past few years, increasing numbers of caravan and holiday parks have been replacing electric heaters with air source heat pumps for their hot tubs.
Wet leisure distributor Golden Coast is a leading heat pump provider, and as General Manager Adam Clark notes, the trend is only going to increase.
“Air source heat pumps have been popular for some time, and we have installed them in parks up and down the UK,” explains Adam.
“The main attraction is the efficiency. Our Golden Coast heat pumps use inverter technology which allows them to run on a lower current. The pump automatically optimises the refrigerant flow rate by varying the speed of both the fan and the compressor. This allows the pump to reach extremely high coefficient of performance, which equates to greater efficiency and lower energy use. So less electricity usage means lower bills. Plus the nominal power usage means air source heat pumps aren’t at risk of overloading the park’s power supply,
“At a time when high electricity prices are a huge worry for everyone, especially holiday parks that might have multiple hot tubs on site, an air source heat pump could offer serious benefits and be an ideal solution amidst the ongoing energy crisis.
“Our heat pumps have a full-colour touchscreen display that allows site owners to monitor crucial information such as temperature and energy consumption, enabling them to track usage and make adjustments as required. They are fully in control.”
As well as offering financial gains, an air source heat pump is a reliable solution for heating hot tubs quickly — essential during summer when rising visitor numbers mean spikes in hot tub use.
Adam says: “Our heat pumps excel during the cooler months and have been tested to temperatures as low as –15 °C. But they truly shine during the spring and summer seasons when good weather prevails because the warmer the weather, the faster the hot tub will heat up. Regardless of the outside temperature, a Golden Coast heat pump will quickly warm the water up to 40°C and maintains the desired temperature consistently. This ensures that guests don’t have to wait long to enjoy their hot tub.”
Golden Coast offers a range of heat pump models to suit different hot tub and pool sizes, with capacities ranging from 12 to 28kW. The robust PVC construction ensures durability, guaranteeing a long and reliable product life. Additionally, the heat pump’s unique ventilation structure keeps noise levels as low as 25dB, allowing a peaceful and undisturbed experience for guests, and peace of mind for park owners.
“Our heat pumps have proven to be a cost-effective solution for keeping hot tubs heated throughout any season,” says Adam. “In addition, their energy-efficiency and low electricity consumption means they’re an eco-friendly option for holiday parks looking to minimize their environmental footprint and improve their environmental, social, and governance (ESG) ratings.
