Llain Residential and daily multi-activity centre for schools, groups and families
Llain multi-activity centre in Wales has decades of experience providing residential and day trips for schools and educational groups.
School/College residential trips are our speciality and our Activity Director, Gethin has 30 years experience under his belt running residential centres for both private and local council organisations. With various accommodation blocks on offer, many converted from old character farm buildings dating back as far as the 17th Century, we can sleep well over 100 guests. Our groups can be fully catered from our recently upgraded kitchen and dining block and we have recently built an outdoor kitchen in response to the COVID-19 pandemic to cater for groups looking to partly self cater.

Llain offers a wide range of activities on and off site. Our most popular packages are the residential trips climbing wall, high ropes and zip wire, also wet activities on the lake including Kayaking and stand up paddle boarding as well as our always popular mud assault course.
All sessions are led by fully qualified instructors, all of whom are also first aid qualified and have enhanced DBS checks. The activity package can be bespoke to your requirements and can include fieldwork options led by former geography and science teachers on our staff. Unlike many centres we are happy to consider short breaks of 2 or 3 nights as well as the more popular 4 nights. We offer deals for the ‘fringe season’ dates, especially before the national tests and SATS.
School & Colleges Activities
where a bespoke programme can be designed to suit your group. We are also finding the day packages becoming increasingly popular where we can offer 2 or 3 ‘taster’ activities. All packages can be bespoke to suit different ages and abilities and can be inclusive for individuals with special requirements.
We can divide our activities into four main categories:
The ‘ropey fun’ activities are based around our sky tower and can include climbing, high ropes course, abseiling and the zip line.
The ‘wet stuff’ mainly happens on the lake and can include Kayaking, Stand up paddle boarding and Raft building. We mainly use ‘sit on top’ kayaks which we find give more confidence to beginners and have a fleet of single and double kayaks as well as new SUPs to add to the fleet.
Our Woodland Ranger activities have become very popular, especially having developed various areas dedicated to small groups around the site including our Bushcraft area in our 40 acre woodland. These sessions can be fun, ‘birthday party’ style or more educational using the knowledge of our Level 3 Forest school leaders and IOL SiG members (members of the Institute of Outdoor Learning, Bushcraft Special interest group). Most activity packages include an element of Team building where team members are given tasks that encourage cooperation, the Mud assault course is easily the most popular of the team building activities! All activities are run by our highly qualified and experienced instructors who, in addition to gaining national governing body awards, have also been internally assessed by our nominated Technical Advisers who are experts in their specific disciplines.
All activities and equipment have risk assessments and regular health and safety checks.
Coasteering
Coasteering involves swimming, climbing and of course jumping. It is an exhilarating sport led by Activity Pembrokeshire’s highly experienced instructors. Wetsuits, helmets and Buoyancy Aides are all provided. There is a minimum age limit of 8 and participants are expected to be water confident and competent.
Mud Assault Course
Our 300m adventure course includes a series of bridges, tunnels, rope swings, confidence tests, ramps and all manner of other obstacles. It is likely to be the wettest and muddiest experience of your life! It’s regularly voted the most popular activity by visiting groups. The ‘Adventure course’ can be adapted to be a challenge for all ages from cubs and scouts to senior rugby squads, fire service teams and teams of outdoor instructors! .
Archery
Archery is as inherent to Wales as singing and with a range of bows available to suit all strengths and sizes you can take part in an activity that has been taking place for centuries and is really fun and competitive. Close attention is
