HERE’S no doubt that 2009 has been a tough year. But the slowdown has not been spread evenly. The Gulf states continue to develop fleets and airport facilities, and specialist operators throughout our region have found business relatively stable. Fractional operators have been hit hard, but many charter companies are now picking up the pieces as recovery dawns. We expect to see a continuing trend in flight numbers back towards the peak of 2008. The major European economies will all be back in growth as this year draws to a close. Flight departments and charter operations will be leaner and fitter as a result of their experiences, and are already reporting signs of recovery and pondering future fleet requirements. Surprisingly, our readership data shows that the number of business jets in Europe has continued to grow modestly during 2009, and stands at over 3,000 compared with around 1,800 at the beginning of 2007. European Business Air News, along with many of our advertisers and readers, has been around long enough to have ridden the peaks and troughs before. We will be celebrating our 200th edition in February 2010, coming of age 21 years after our launch in 1989.
2010 highlights
• Comprehensive
distribution to aircraft owners is unrivalled
• Promotional packages
for EBACE, Farnborough, NBAA and MEBA
• Advertising rates frozen • EBAN celebrates 200 issues and 21 years
So, with the whole business world feverishly analysing the latest numbers, we have sprinkled this year’s media information with some statistics of our own.

Europe and the Middle East: a vast market for business aviation At European Business Air News we know exactly how many business aircraft there are in Europe and the Middle East. We track them constantly, aiming to ensure that our magazine is mailed directly to the decision-makers for every single one. Readers of the September 2009 edition of EBAN were responsible for 11,077 aircraft, including 3,151 business jets, 4,690 turbine helicopters and 1,236 twin turboprops. This attention to detail means that our advertisers who provide services to aircraft owners can be confident that they are reaching their customers in the most comprehensive manner, while those who sell new or pre-owned aircraft can target their most likely prospects by far.

EBAN in print and online It all adds up to total coverage Our audit, your peace of mind
Plus...
The printed edition of EBAN is distributed to over 60 countries in Europe and the Middle East, using our own meticulously researched database of aircraft and their owners/operators. For each twin piston, turbine prop, turbine helicopter and business jet we aim to reach the owner, chief pilot and senior operations manager by name.
Our news on the web
Our printed circulation is independently audited by BPA Worldwide.
Plus...
What our readers tell us According to a survey of over 950 EBAN readers during 2008/9, each copy of the magazine is read by an average of 5.7 individuals, implying a total printed issue readership figure of around 35,000.
Plus...
Out and about at the leading FBOs Over 800 more copies of our printed issue are provided for the crew and passenger lounges at 73 FBO facilities by specific arrangement, with a conservative readership estimate of 8,000 individuals. Further copies are distributed at leading trade shows, adding thousands more to the total.
Plus...
Each month our magazine news pages on the web are viewed by around 5,000 unique visitors, brought to the site by our email promotions and prominent positioning in the leading search engines. Top advertisers are listed on every page.
New in 2009: our digital edition The full edition, with display advertising in all its glory, is also now available online in digital magazine format, and linked from our home page. The July edition, by way of example, received 26,000 page views from 3,600 readers, and we aim to further boost this readership during 2010. A completely new bonus, with fully functional email and web links embedded, at no extra cost for all our advertisers!
Equals... The combination of 35,000 single printed copy readers, 8,000 FBO copy readers, 9,000 email recipients, 5,000 web visitors and 3,600 digital edition readers, now provides the most extensive coverage of European and Middle East business aviation we have ever been able to offer.*
Driving readership by email On publication of each issue we send an announcement by email to around 9,000 business aviation professionals, either operators or key individuals in the business aviation supply chain. The email has links to each of our major display advertisers and directs readers to full stories on the EBAN web site.
*Please note that all figures on this page are sourced from the publisher’s own data, and that the BPA Worldwide audit applies only to the printed copy distribution figures.

Exclusive news coverage The headline news in European Business Air News is all about aircraft owners and operators, their current activities and plans for the future. The aircraft covered include the whole diversity of business aviation in its widest sense, whether privately-flown cabin-class piston twins, utility turbine helicopters, turboprops or business jets. Geographically, the news remit spans the whole of Europe, Russia and the Middle East. EBAN readers find out what their peers, whether collaborators or competitors, are doing. No other magazine maintains this focus. Some of the stories we covered during 2009 are illustrated by the pictures at the foot of each page of this media brochure.
Read EBAN in your preferred format Printed
Digital
The coverage is completely independent, with no ‘advertorials’ or product placements, and written by EBAN’s own team. This year again it includes strong features, ever-popular regional reviews and a full FBO/handling survey. In 2010 the airshow coverage is being expanded, responding to reader requests for a truly useful guide to exhibits, and for digestible news analysis for those unable to attend for themselves. But more of this later.
Web
The bottom line is that aircraft owners and operators consistently find our coverage innovative, interesting and valuable, and that can only be great news for our advertisers.

Bringing the air shows to everyone For many years EBAN magazine organised the European Business Air Show, which laid the foundations for the current EBACE Exhibition, and we currently co-host the biannual Business & General Aviation Day at Cambridge Airport. So when it comes to aviation exhibitions and conferences we have a wealth of experience, and a pretty shrewd idea of what our readers are looking for. While many owners and operators of business aircraft will take time to attend the most relevant shows (EBACE and MEBA especially), many others are quite simply too busy to take time out to travel to exhibitions no matter how appealing. In 2010 we aim to use our printed and online resources to bring the exhibitors’ sales messages to the whole audience throughout Europe and the Middle East. For four key shows we will be including a concise preview in the printed EBAN, covering travel arrangements and expected key announcements and exhibits. This will be backed up by a comprehensive online guide to exhibitors and their activities to help plan a visit, as well as thorough coverage of news released at the shows to catch up afterwards. Advertisers in the preview editions for each show will benefit from additional distribution of the printed magazine, links in email news bulletins, and banners on EBAN’s show resources on the web, as well as package discount pricing on the preview and report issues when booked together.

Comprehensive market knowledge works for EBAN’s advertisers The publishers of European Business Air News also produce the leading pocket reference books for the business aviation industry; the Handbooks of Business Aviation in Europe and Asia Pacific, and the Global Business Jet Yearbook. These include comprehensively researched data on airports and handlers, charter and maintenance operators and support industries, as well as data on the aircraft themselves. The knowledge we gain by setting high standards in data acquisition shines through in the editorial coverage in EBAN and in the thorough and accurate distribution of the magazine.
