Welcome to European Academy for Education and Social Research The European Academy for Education and Social Research is an institution aiming at developing a better Europe through the knowledge sharing and a research based use of information and communication technologies.The educational aim is achieved through the European Projects Academy, a set of services for knowledge sharing and best practices transfer; the social research is conducted through My Europa platform, a set of Internet based tools for social cooperation, networking and projects development.The European Projects Academy is an educational program composed of training courses and practical experience based on the learning by doing methodology. The Master course in Technologies for the Development of European Projects is a specific program composed of 5 ordinary courses and a Professional Improvement Program (PIP).The courses are created in order to improve and enhance the professional level of the European stakeholders with the most up-to-date knowledge regarding funding opportunities, and to develop their project writing skills in a goal-
oriented way. The PIP is giving to the attendants a chance to put in practice the obtained knowledge, applying the acquired know how and developing opportunities for the hosting organisation and the partners community. Also, it is stimulating the participation of youth in the project development processes and facilitating the live interaction and complementary work of young enthusiastic professionals and experienced managers. Spreading the use of My Europa tools among the European projects stakeholders supports an effective communication, networking, knowledge sharing and education. Fostering the use of information and communication technology tools and with a correct ethic approach, the Master in Technologies for the Development of European Projects is aiming at creating a new generation of professionals able to use the European funds more efficiently, enhancing the absorption capacity of the stakeholders involved and lowering the overall costs of the entire process.

MyEuropa Is the networking community platform connecting all the stakeholders involved in European projects with the aim of developing opportunities for public and private organisations, entrepreneurs, freelancers, small businesses, NGOs, researchers and students. The exclusive online community of the European Projects Association members is offering to web users, individual students, experts and organisations the opportunity to change the way of developing projects by adopting innovative methodologies and techniques. People involved in the field of European project development are familiar with the fact that a well written project proposal is not enough to obtain European funds for co-financing project ideas. My Europa is growing in order to overcome the difficulties in successfully absorbing European funds for the development of effective and efficient projects. Each member has the chance to show his skills and experiences and interact with others to enhance the knowledge about EU programmes, connect and expand the network of partners, share information, promote ideas, exchange best practices, create own projects or join other consortia in order to cooperate on a specific transnational project. All these features, incorporated in the My Europa network, are supported by integrated tools such as: Funds Forum, Europa News, Projects Factory, Projects Showroom, E-Academy and Work in Projects. Years of research and testing with European project managers and organisations produced a web - based set of tools and services for cooperation on European projects reproducing in a social network community the ideal environment for each European projects stakeholder.
ProjectsShowroom Is the place where every project can be showcased in each stage of its lifecycle. In the different thematic categories every member of My Europa network can post project ideas looking for partners or funding sources; ongoing projects can promote its activities, events and share materials with their partners or with the entire community; ended projects can disseminate its results and best practices becoming matter of discussion and sources of inspiration for new projects. The Projects Showroom is aiming to map the diffusion of European projects and partnerships, showing the cooperation efforts in achieving European objectives. The intention is to foster the development of ever better projects linking the partners and facilitating a longterm communication and follow-up as a good way to strength the cooperation between all the stakeholders.
FundsForum Is the forum where all European programmes and other funds available to co-finance projects are described thanks to the interaction of experts. This information centre is a place where it is possible to discuss about EU funding opportunities and where every connected question can find a specific answer. The great opportunity to target messages and promote activities focusing on a specific thematic allows everybody to access and share knowledge and information on European programmes, calls for proposals, calls for tenders, European project management, seminars, trainings and workshops focused on EU funding issues and matters.

ProjectsFactory Is a project management warehouse with several useful cloud computing tools for European project planning and implementation. Using this cooperation platform a project manager can setup a project, add all partners involved, set a roadmap with a timeline, upload files, set milestones, assign tasks, organise schedules, events, meetings, interact with the team on all the daily activities of project planning and implementation. The reporting system and the activities stream are helping the teamwork, giving to the project manager a transparent overview of the work in progress from the starting date to the last deadline.
EuropaNews Is an information center collecting news from EU related websites that constantly monitors the updates of institutional webpages, news portals and alternative sources of information which guarantees an “at-a-glance� overview of what is on in European affairs. It is a time-saving system which collects fresh news, information, daily events, activities, reports, conferences, seminars, calls, projects and job opportunities published on the most significant European portals. The objective is to collect all the fragmented information about EU issues in one place, giving to every user the opportunity to contribute to the growing of the stream suggesting new sources to follow.
eAcademy Is the eLearning tool of My Europa, where different courses can be taken individually by the members to foster their knowledge in specific fields. The attendants can follow video lessons, download materials and test the acquired knowledge and skills. E-Academy is the place where the educational organisation and experienced members can share their knowledge and teach young professionals to become the future leading European minds.
WorkInProjects Is the meeting point for organisations searching for professionals in the EU affairs sectors and individuals looking for jobs and new experiences. This is not only an on-line job marketplace but, a real opportunities box for professional growth and carrier opportunities related to the European projects development. The tools for finding the right profiles and for simplifying the selection process are available to the employers. The job seekers have the chance to develop their curriculum and track the new opportunities available in their fields of interest. Partners The European Projects Association is a non – profit organisation focusing on research and development, innovation and internationalisation, using Information and Communication Technologies in order to become Europe’s leading cooperation network completely dedicated to the whole community of European projects stakeholders. It also supports the goals of young individuals, experts and organisations through a broad range of tools and services developed in cooperation with the European Academy for Education and Social Research. The European Projects Association team is composed of experienced people driven by the common aim of creating a unique resource centre to build a better Europe using in the best way European funds to co-finance development projects. The Headquarters are located in Brussels, which makes it easier to represent its members and to stay constantly up-todate with new information, changes and challenges of the European Union, as well as to remain in constant touch with the European Institutions themselves. Atlas Language School is a professional language school based in Dublin. The school was established in 2003 and has grown quickly in size and reputation in that time. It is a young, vibrant and professional language school committed to providing a unique learning experience and excellent English courses in a friendly and motivating environment. The International University Institute for European Studies is an international university consortium among the university of Trieste and Udine (Italy), Klagenfurt (Austria), Eötvös Loránd of Budapest (Hungary), Babes-Bolyai of Cluj-Napoca (Romania), Comenius of Bratislava (Slovakia), Jagiellonian of Kraków (Poland), MGIMO of Moscow (Russian Federation), Nova Gorica University (Slovenia) and the Institute of International Sociology of Gorizia (Italy). Since 2005 the consortium has been member of the Central Europe Initiative University Network. In its mission statement, the Consortium aims at encouraging the international academic co-operation and educates professionals and scholars in some of the most significant fields of the New Europe. Andrea Debeljuh, PhD in Science of Education at the University of Bologna (Italy), Academic Director of European Academy for Education and Social Research and Professor at the University of Pula (Croatia). He has been involved in various training and seminars focused on education and management of European funds. He has 10 years of research experience in the field of education. He spent a semester as a University Scientist at the ‘Brown University’ in Providence (USA) and was a research teacher of ‘Adult Education in an International Context’ at the Faculty of Arts in Rijeka (Croatia).
Alberto Gasparini, Professor of sociology at the University of Trieste, Faculty of Political science, where he holds courses in Rural and Urban Sociology, Sociology of International Relations and Forecasting techniques. He is also the President of the International University Institute for European Studies (IUIES) since 2000 and Director of the Institute of International Sociology of Gorizia since 1989. He seats in the directing board of several Italian and international scientific institution such as the Bureau of the Italian Sociological Association (AIS), the International Future Research Academy (IFRA), the International Sociology Institute and many others.

Teaching Methodology Our student centred educational approach provides the students with the resources and skills required to manage directly their own learning in order to facilitate their motivation and overcome their constraints, under the guidance of experts and tutors. The student centred approach addresses to create an interactive teaching environment that aims to match the educational needs and individual interests of the enrolling students. The teaching methodology will combine classroom teaching based on lectures, case studies, workshops and individual on-line work thanks to our web-based interactive network My Europa and its integrated tools that allows to enrolled students to develop projects from their personal ideas. Beside the fundamental needs of acquiring theoretical knowledge from leading experts, it is also important to provide the students practical tools that will be implementable from the very beginning of their educational process. Thanks to an intensive use of technologies for the implementation of the acquired knowledge, students will also have the opportunity to interact with the European project stakeholders. The immediate application of the learned concepts through the use of new technologies is the big innovational approach of this Master course. All features of My Europa network represents a Lifelong Learning instrument that will be provided to the all enrolling students and will be useful for their entire professional career. Indeed, the connections realised through My Europa, combined with the use of on-line tools, will give the students an added value and a competitive advantage on the job marketplace compared to others. During the whole master programme, enrolled students will be active by working on their project using the innovative technologies for the development of European projects. Programme structure The master course is structured within a 1-year programme and it includes five individual courses divided in one week of in-class lectures and interactive project’s activity supported by our web-based interactive network My Europa. The successful conclusion of all the five courses leads to the Professional Improvement Programme which gives the opportunity to work on concrete project proposals at the European Projects Association headquarter in Brussels, its National Contact Points and our Partner Organisations. It is possible to enrol either in the full study programme or in single courses. The successful conclusion of all five courses leads to the diploma in Technologies for the Development of European Projects. Otherwise, the attendance of a single course leaves you with a certificate of participation.

Course 1 European Institutions and Funding Policies The first course starts with exploring the origins and development of the European Union including its process of enlargement that has involved many Eastern European countries in the last ten years. The complex government structure of the EU will also be analysed, composed of Institutions in charge of making EU laws, managing EU projects, distributing funds deciding the policies and the future direction of the European Union. With regard to funding opportunities, actions and projects funded with the EU budget within five broad spending categories known as headings will be specifically examined. EU regional policies focused on reducing significant economic, social and territorial disparities between European’s regions will also be outlined. The course will include the introduction to the guidelines of Europe 2020, the EU’s growth strategy based on future high levels of employment, productivity and social cohesion. Beside the theoretical background, students will also have a practical experience in finding all updated information on EU Institutions and Funding Policies thanks to My Europa network and its tools, especially using the Europa News. Staying in touch with the main source of information through our web-based tools, it is a great way to keep updated the achieved expertises. Course 2 European Projects English The course has been designed for professionals who need to use English accurately and appropriately in order to communicate successfully with international project partners, write effective project proposals and submit official documents to the European Commission. While you can expect to acquire the specific EU project management language you will need in order to submit a successful project application. The course also aims at improving your ability to accurately apply grammar, develop an appropriate formal style, express and link ideas in writing, synthesise information to arrive at a persuasive and coherent written conclusion, produce written project proposals commensurate with the standards of the EU and improve your wider communication and presentation skills.

Course 3 Community Programmes and Structural Funds The main goal of the third course is to provide a comprehensive understanding of three basic types of EU funds: Community Programmes, Structural funds and External aids support. The Community Programmes are funds managed directly by the EU Commission in the form of grants and priorities such as research, competitiveness, innovation, environmental sustainability, education, youth, media, culture and citizenship. Structural Funds (including the cohesion fund and agricultural support) are part of the EU regional policies, aiming at achieving economic and social cohesion by reducing the development gaps among the EU regions. The implementation is decentralised to national and regional authorities of the EU Member States. The expected impact of these funds concerns mainly the financing of investment projects connected to improve competitiveness and research & development of enterprises, sustainability of job creation and adaptation of workers, support to environment and renewable energies, development of infrastructure and transportation, support to rural areas. External aids have been designed to enhance the role of the European Union as a global player, in order to spread their proper values (prosperity, democracy and human rights) through cooperation with third countries. These funds are managed directly by the countries benefiting of the aids (with the supervision of a EU delegation) in the form of tenders or grants for supplies, works and service contracts or twinning, and the use of the Funds Forum in order to streamline the information regarding European funds is the way for being ever updated about all calls for proposals. Interacting with experts and potential partners in open discussions about the best solutions for financing projects is an excellent way to acquire and share knowledge. European Projects Development
The fourth course starts with giving a practical approach of where to find useful information about EU programmes and related funds in order to cofinance your project’s idea. The students enrolled in the course will gain the key tools necessary to write a call for proposals in a goal-oriented way and to manage the entire life cycle of a European Project. The successful understanding of EU funds methodologies includes many tasks connected to project management, draft and development of the project’s idea; international partners search; filling out and submitting the application form; project implementation; financial monitoring and project closure. All these activities will be supported by the “Projects Factory”, a web-based project management system included in the My Europa network and designed to fulfill all the needs of a European project manager. As one of the core needs for the current project management, this tool is based on a cloud computing platform easily accessible from everywhere. All enrolling students will be trained on how to use correctly the Projects Factory tool in order to develop and manage their projects. Course 5 Case Studies and European Projects Simulation The fifth course has been designed with the aim of analysing a wide range of best practices of European projects using case study tools. Different case studies will be assigned to the students, in order to simulate the entire European project cycle by applying what they know. Case studies also represent a great way to develop team building skills because when a group gets together to solve a case, they need to work out a common plan taking into consideration different opinions, methods and perspectives. Thanks to European projects management simulation, students will learn the right text structure of a project proposal, including effectiveness of language, exposition and grammatical correctness. Thanks to the Projects Showroom, the enrolled students will have the opportunity to review various projects successfully implemented by different kind of organisations according to their specific needs and aims. In this way the students will be able to better understand the typology of projects funded by the European Commission.

Course 6 Professional Improvement Program The Professional Improvement Program (PIP), developed and organised by the European Projects Association situated in Brussels, is giving to the attendants a chance to apply the acquired knowledge, methodologies and techniques to develop opportunities for the hosting organisation and the entire community of partners. European Projects Association, EPA National Contact Points and ERISA organisation members and other PIP Partners will be the organisations benefiting from the participation of the students in the development processes and from the live interaction and complementary work of young enthusiastic professionals and experienced managers. The opportunity of being a part of the project development teams and working with experienced professionals is a chance to establish the basis for future professional career and growth. Furthermore the students, who gained the knowledge of using My Europa network and its tools in the previous courses, will be able to put it into practice enhancing the project development skills of the involved organisations. By spreading the use of My Europa tools among the European projects stakeholders through an effective communication, networking, knowledge sharing and education, PIP is fostering the use of information and communication technology tools. Location and Social activities
Gorizia Gorizia is a town in northeastern Italy, in the autonomous region of Friuli Venezia Giulia. It is located at the foot of the Julian Alps, bordering Slovenia. Since 1947, a twin town of Nova Gorica has developed on the other side of the Italian-Slovenian border. Both towns constitute a conurbation, which also includes the Slovenian municipality of Šempeter-Vrtojba. Gorizia is located at the confluence of the Isonzo and Vipava Valleys. It lies in a plain overlooked by the Collio hills, which are renowned for the production of outstanding wines. Being sheltered from the north by a mountain ridge, Gorizia is protected from the cold Bora wind which affects most of the neighbouring areas. The town thus retains a mild Mediterranean climate throughout the year, making it a popular resort. The first course “European Institutions and Funding Policies” will take place at the headquarter of International University Institute for European Studies.

Location and Social activities
Dublin Dublin is the capital of Ireland and it is located near the midpoint of Ireland’s east coast at the mounth of the River Liffely. Originally founded as a Viking settlement, it evolved into the Kingdom of dublin and became the island’s primary city following the Norman invasion. The city has an urban population of over 1 million people and it is a historical and contemporary cultural centre for the country, as well as a modern centre of education, the arts, administration, economy and industry. The second course ”European Projects English” will take place at the Atlas Language School.

Location and Social activities Rovinj Rovinj is a city in Croatia situated on the north Adriatic Sea with a population of 13,562. It is located on the western coast of the Istrian peninsula and is a popular tourist resort and an active fishing port. Built on an island close to the coast, it was connected with the mainland in 1763 by filling in the channel. The third course ”Community Programmes and Structural Funds” and fourth course “European Projects Development” will take place in the city of Rovinj and the location of the classrooms will be announced very soon!

Location and Social activities Brussels Brussels is the capital city of Belgium and of Brussels Capital Region. It is entirely surrounded by Dutch-speaking Flanders and its constituent Flemish Brabant province. As headquarters of many European institutions, Brussels might also be considered something of a capital for the European Union. Being at the crossroads of cultures (the Germanic in the North and the Romance in the South) and playing an important role in Europe, Brussels fits the definition of the archetypal “melting pot”, but still retains its own unique character. The population of the city of Brussels is 1 million and the population of Brussels metropolitan area is just over 2 million. The fifth course “Case Studies and European project simulation” will take place in the city of Brussels and the location of the classroom will be announced very soon!
Enrolled students will also have the benefits of a comprehensive social programme. Taking part in a group outside the classroom and sharing experiences with international colleague, will contribute to a pleasant stay in Gorizia, Dublin, Rovinj and Brussels.

How to apply In order to be admitted to the master course, you have to complete, sign and return the application form. Completed application form should reach the European Academy for Education and Social Research by September 25th 2011. For those who apply by September 1th 2011, it will be recognised a discount of 10% of the total Master’s programme. The Tuition fee for the whole master programme is EUR 6,000 (accommodation included). The successful conclusion of five courses leads to the Professional Improvement Programme within our partner organisations. Participants can also apply for single courses. The registration fee for each course is EUR 1,500 (accommodation included).
