European Spa Gold List: Kimben Spa at Borgo Lanciano, Italy

Best for: Beautiful body therapies

The rurally located Borgo Lanciano, a luxury resort in Macerata, Italy, reopened following an extensive renovation project helmed by architecture firms Studio Bizzarro & Partners and WiP Architects.

Five ground-floor suites and a new swimming pool have been added along with the Kimben Spa. The 2,000sqm spa features treatment rooms equipped by Lemi, a relaxation area, a bio-sauna, a steam bath and sensory showers with chromo-aroma therapy. An infinity pool and two heated pools with water massage stations and integrated loungers complete the offering.

The spa offers Kneipp therapy and a treatment menu with a host of thalasso, draining, detoxifying and anti-ageing experiences on offer. Locally inspired treatment rituals are at the core of a menu that includes Vega – a body scrub, wrap and leg lymphatic drainage massage – and Antares combining an iron facial mask, connective tissue facial massage, remodelling mud and body massage.
