The founda on houses the permanent exhibi on of more than 217 pain ngs, 8,000 drawings, 178 sculptures, tapestries and all graphics by Joan Miró. White walls, rus c le floors and an elegant system of roof arches make this one of the worlds greatest museum buildings.

The genius of the young ar st is revealed through the more than 4,000 works that make up the permanent collec on. However, the Picasso Museum also reveals his rela onship with Barcelona: an in mate, solid rela onship that was shaped in his adolescence and youth, and con nued un l his death.

Dali Theatre Museum (Figueres) www.salvador-dali.org The museum contains the broadest range of works spanning the ar s c career of Salvador Dalí, from his earliest ar s c experiences and his crea ons within the Surrealist movement down to the works of the last years of his life.

The present Portlligat House-museum was Salvador Dalí’s only fixed abode from 1930. Drawn to the area by the landscape, the light and the isola on Dali lived and worked here un l 1982.

The last apartment house built by Antoni Gaudi, the CasaMila (or “stone quarry” as it is affec onately known) is considered the epitome of Modernism with its impressive façade of undula ng stone and iron balconies. There is an accompanying exhibi on, Espai Gaudi for English guided tours.

This park is based on the design of garden ci es in England and is a classic representa on of Gaudi’s ideas. At the centre is the Great Esplande, with an undula ng bench covered in some of the finest examples of trencadis (broken mosaic work) mostly by Gaudis overshadowed assistant Josep Maria Jujol.

Casa Museu Gaudi (Located within Parc Guell) www.casamuseugaudi.org/en Although designed by Gaudi’s colleague Francesc Berenguer, Gaudi never-the-less had a hand in designing the garden pergola and the beau ful furniture. He lived here from 1906 un l his death in 1926, but in the last few years he oKen slept in his workshop in the Sagrada Familia.

The Barcelona Pavilion is an emblema c work of the Modern Movement, known for its simple form and its spectacular use of extravagant materials, such as marble, red onyx and traver ne.
