sordevolo
Since 1816, every five years, from June to September 400 people from Sordevolo perform the Holy Passion. Each aspect of the play: set design, production and direction, acting school etc. is handled by local human resources and techniques. The performance site is a wide open space, which is turned into a corner of Jerusalem. The text is a fifteenth century play in verses by the Florentine writer Giuliano Dati and is played by amateur actors. It is undoubtedly the greatest choral play ever performed in Italy.
