20 YEARS: All the colour and flair of the fair.
It’s time to celebrate... THE ‘day fair’ in Almeria is celebrating its 20th Anniversary during this year’s feria (fair). The annual celebration in honour of the Virgen del Mar (Virgin of the Sea) began last weekend and goes on until next Saturday. The festivities include live music, dance performances, a Harley Davidson parade, traditional dress contests, and daily bull fights during the day with fair rides and outdoor discos at night.
The restaurants taking part in the culinary attractions of the day fair have agreed to sell drinks for 2€ until 2 pm every day. The nine restaurant stands will be placed in the centre of Almeria; Plaza de la Constitucion, Plaza Flores, and Virgen del Mar, among others. The centre’s day fair began 20 years ago when restaurateurs decided to bring life back to downtown Almeria during the feria, which lost popularity when the Vega de Aca fairgrounds opened.
