Byblos to rise again www.granhotelguadalpin.com
A LUXURY hotel that hosted The Rolling Stones, Princess Diana, and Julio Iglesias could come back to life. The Byblos Hotel in Mijas was shut two-and-a-half years ago and has stood empty ever since. But now its owner, tycoon and star of British TV show The Apprentice, Lord Alan Sugar, has asked for the conditions to get a repair licence. Sugar paid €2.5 million for the 144room hotel in 2009, though it is valued at €35 million. His company, Amshold, has contacted Mijas Town Hall in order to start the cleaning and refurbishment of the premises, according to town hall spokesman Mario Bravo. “We want the hotel to restart its activities as a luxury resort as soon as possible,” Mario Bravo said.
