“Common sense has to be used,” Llombart said, with patients’ needs coming first. ‘Urgencias’ will remain open 24 hours a day in towns if the nearest state-run hospital is an hour’s drive away, he added. Alicante Province has nine general hospitals and there are few municipalities more than an hour’s drive away, it has already been pointed out.
