In December hopes increased when there was a fall in unemployment. But José María Ruiz Olmos from workers union CCOO has revealed that an average of 126.7 jobs were lost per day at the start of the year.
During 2012 unemployment numbers increased monthly except during the summer and December when holidayperiod casual work increased. Ministry of Labour figures show that people in their teens and early 20s, along with women aged over 44, are among those worst hit. In Alicante there are 83,000 households where all the family members are currently unemployed.
