10,000 small firms forced to close doors THE dreams of more than 10,000 small businesses in Malaga province have died as they have had to shut their doors due to the financial crisis. That means that since 2008, nearly a third of all businesses in the province have had to close, according to the Malaga Commerce Federation. It reports there are 26,000 remaining small and medium businesses, many of which are struggling to survive. Turn to page 4
13 bids to remodel square THIRTEEN bids to remodel Plaza Virgen de la Peña in Mijas Pueblo have been received. The Town Hall will evaluate the plans and choose the best. The aim is to cause as little disturbance as possible for tourists during construction. The project will cost €4.5 million and the winning company will be announced by the end of March. Work is due to be finished by the end of 2014.
