MARBELLA’S Costa del Sol Hospital made waves on Saturday, February 25, as it joined in the global celebration of ‘International Day for Women and Girls in Science’. The day, which was first adopted by the United Nation in 2015, is designed to draw attention to the lack of female representation in scientific fields and promote increased gender equality.

The Costa del Sol Hospital has been working hard to encourage and support women in science including through its Gender Equality programme, which focuses on promoting research carried out by women.

Data from the hospital from the past six years has shown there to be an equal distribution of female researchers in clinical studies and publications in highimpact scientific journals, testament to the hospital’s commitment to gender equality.

During the event, the hospital’s Research and Innovation Department launched a campaign featuring some of the hospital’s most talented and innovative women. These women shared their expe riences, projects, concerns, and advice for aspiring female scientists.

The hospital expressed its gratitude to all the women professionals who collaborated in the campaign and research, thanking them “for their work contributing to scientific advances.”
