A RECENT report conducted by British hotel chain Premier Inn released on Monday, February 20, has named Costa del Sol city Malaga as the ‘most in demand destination in the world’ based on an investigation into consumer internet searches.
reasons for tourists’ interest in the destination were likely to be its “idyllic beaches, lively culture and appetising gastronomy.”
Malaga was followed in the rankings by the Italian floating city of Venice whose ‘romantic reputation’ won the hearts of many couples travelling together. Third place in the report went to US west coast destination San Francisco with 237,000 searches per month.
But what sets this event apart is the colourful paint that will be thrown at participants along the route, creating a vibrant and festive atmosphere.
Participants can register online: www.dorsalchip.es. Registration costs €10 for individuals and €9 for children up to 12 years old. This includes a race pack and a plate of rice to refuel afterwards.
The coastal city reached the prestigious position after outflanking globally renowned destinations including San Francisco and Venice by numbers of searches. The report found that more than 312,000 searches were made about the destination during the study period of a month.
The report assessed consumer research trends in more than 90 countries worldwide, investigating city destinations, but excluding their capital cities. The report focused on upandcoming destinations that are slightly off the beaten track.
