THE Mayoral candidate for Torrevieja Pablo Samper announced on Monday, May 15 that if he is voted in as Mayor his party ‘Sueña Torrevieja’ (Dream Torrevieja) will fund a pavilion with a capacity for 15,000 people.

He went on to say this pavilion they have named the Torrevieja International Centre will be constructed on the plot of land next to the Official Language School.

Samper also said “There have been many requests and suggestions from residents who have asked us about the possibility of Torrevieja being able to host concerts on an international level throughout the year.”

The Torrevieja International Centre would also be a space to hold, fairs, exhibitions, and congresses.

He compared the plans for this centre to the Wizink Centre in Madrid saying it would allow them to host international sporting events and would put Torrevieja in the international spotlight as a sporting reference.

IN a dazzling display of tradition and faith, Guardamar del Segura celebrated San Isidro’s Day on Sunday, May 14. With a vivid tapestry of colours and sounds, the town paid homage to the patron saint of agriculture and labourers with a breathtaking ‘Romeria’ traditional procession.

The procession of San Isidro Labrador del Campo de Guardamar began from the Virgen de Fátima parish church, where locals and visitors gathered and began a procession which would then travel around the town.
