Invest in sport

THE Santa Pola Town Hall has announced the beginning of the work on the Paco Hernández sports centre on their website.

They will invest €527,000 into the sports centre to create a new sports court, new changing rooms and storerooms.

They will also renovate the façade and update the lighting as part of this project.

They reported that the work should take a maximum of five months to complete.

On their Facebook page, Mayor Loreto Serrano and Councillor Julio Miguel Baeza Andreu reported that the work to lay the new artificial turf on the Pereira pitch has been completed. The investment of €186,000 was provided by the Alicante Council as part of their more sport plan.

Isidro united the faithful in a harmonious celebration. Another spectacle followed in an enchanting floral offering, leaving attendees feeling uplifted thanks to the accompaniment of the Santisima Virgen de los Dolores band.

San Isidro, also known as Saint Isidore the Labourer, is the patron saint of farmers and labourers. Born in Madrid, in the late 11th century, he lived a life of humility and devotion, serving as a farm labourer for most of his life. He is renowned in the global Catholic community for his piety, charity, and for performing miracles.

THE Torrevieja Town Council invested €48,400 to refurbish 80 pétanque courts in the municipality of Torrevieja.

The Sports councillor for Torrevieja, Diana Box Alonso reported that the work took two months. She went on to say that the practice of this sport in the town of Torrevieja has many fans, mainly older people and both Spanish and International residents so it was important to the town council that each area have one and that they be in good condition.

The 80 refurbished courts have been installed in: Plaza de Las Abejas, Plaza Argólidas, Plaza de Europa, Plaza de la Marina Española, Plaza Mar Azul, Plaza Sevilla, Plaza Sevilla, San Roque neighbourhood, and those installed in the urbanisations of Las Torretas, Cabo Cervera, Los Balcones, and La Siesta.
